Oh goodie.

He signed the title. Did not put the amount on it.

He put the amount on the bill of sale, he did not sign it.

DMV needs both on one document.

I've actually had the DMV clerk tell me, "How about you run outside and get the seller to fill in that dollar amount for you, then come back to this station so we can finish up."

I've heard of people going out to lunch to meet the seller to get their autograph on something before coming back to the DMV. I'm sure that have never done that, but I have heard of it.

Not seeing your well set up... but if you have a little Schrader valve on the inlet side , if its clogged you won't be getting the air in the tank you need with each cycle.

There is some sort of valve thing on the inlet side that is supposed to draw air in for the iron separator, is that the one you are referring to or am I looking for something else?

Well, I found the Schrader valve. Or rather, the rusty blob masquerading as one. I tried to flush the tank one more time this morning to see if I can hear the air injector working. I didn't. But I noticed there was a very slow drip coming from the valve. Running my finger tip over it to reseat the insert (as one does) turned the slow drip into a nice and steady leak, so I drained the tank again and it looks like there is no valve action left in the Schrader valve.

Oh well, local plumber is dropping by today to fix the failed valve and if necessary, porvide further diagnosis on the tank.

Illinois had a $25 sales tax when buying/gifting a car to family otherwise my used car fell into the $50 sales tax bracket.

DMV lady tells me if I take the form to my car in the parking lot and my mother-in-law is there and can sign it I'll qualify for the lower amount.

No, it was so creepy I just paid the $50........

In AZ there are the state-run DMV offices and also, if you pay a small premium, independent DMV offices.  Service is supposed to be the same but I have found that typically, the private DMV offices will explain to you a work around when all of the i's are not dotted or a t not crossed.

I just bought an enclosed cargo trailer that had been titled/registered in this guy's business name.  On the back where you are supposed to sign when you are selling, the seller put his own name as the seller and then signed below.  Nope.  But, the independent agent told me that the name of the company AND the seller's personal name had to be on the line.  All of the fields had been filled in with the seller's blue pen.  I only had a black pen.  But, there is an Office Max down the road and close to the state DMV office.  In the DIY copy area there are cups of pens, black AND blue so that people could sign documents and have them notarized.  So, off I went.  Found me a couple blue pens and piece of copy paper from the trash can to practice on and was able to squeeze the company name on that line.  Since they now "knew me" at the private DMV and knew my documents were not in order, I was off to the state DMV.  Waited about 30 minutes and, SCORE.  Went through without any trouble.  Otherwise, I would have had to get a new title and track down the seller that was on the other side of Phoenix for him to complete the back side of correctly.

Funny you say that. The time that I certainly did not go and find the seller over lunch, the seller was my Uncle, both of us in Illinois. Turns out that the family thing doesn't extend to uncles/cousins. Grandparents/parents/siblings/children/grandchildren only.

As an aside, best DMV in the Chicagoland area is the express DMV in the loop.

Next installment in the saga. Plumbers came, saw, scratched their heads and then proceeded to remove the air injection piece that was leaking. So far, so good.

Unfortunately they then noticed that the pressure tank had completely filled with water and that the bladder likely has a slow leak. They re-pressurized the bladder and told me to keep an eye on it, if it depressurizes again and I get the same symptoms, it's "replace pressure tank for $loadsamoney" o'clock as of course it's past the warranty.

Currently wondering that if it's the tank, if I rip the whole band aid off and have the tank and the old, about to keel over filtration system replaced all at the same time.

If it's *just*the pressure tank on the well, and you didn't have some bizarre one off model, it's not a terrible job. Precovid I think it was $200 for the tank and line to hook it up when mine sprung a leak. Took 2 of us a little over 2 hours from "there's water pouring everywhere" to celebration beers.

It may "just" be the pressure tank. However it looks like the exact tank we have is NLA, at least to some supplier websites. The tank on its own seems to be listed at between $1k-$2k.

I'm trying to avoid another "water pouring anywhere" scenario and while I'm grumbling about the cost, I'd much rather have someone else install it for various reasons. Due to the way our mechanical room is configured, there's a lot of scope for mayhem because all the plumbing is crammed into a corner. I'd rather have someone else eff things up and put them right again...

And the plumbing saga took a turn for the worse. The repair sprung a leak overnight. About a quarter of our basement has standing water in it, at least one door is damaged plus some drywall, and I'm pretty sure water also got under the vinyl planks that the PO used on the basement.

Time to document, document, document while I'm waiting for them to show up.

Oh, and I flipping faceplanted while trying to rush to drain the tank. So now I've also got a mildly sprained wrist on top of all of the other E36 M3.

Question - call my home inswearance immediately, or give the plumbing company a chance to get their insurance involved? Because I'm not paying for this out of my own pocket, and I don't see a reason that my insurance should pay for it either.

I got a cough/cold couple of weeks before Christmas. I felt fine after a week but the cough lasted until the end of January. I would wake up i the middle of the night and cough up my toenails. It was terrible.

I don't think I've ever had a cough that was that persistent or lasted so long.

Luden cough drops helped a lot.

Only a minor rant, but a comment on everyone being sick.  My shopping list this morning included thermometer covers.  Minor rant is they were out of stock.  My observation was that the thermometer section at Meijer was pretty much empty, with only a few really expensive ones left in stock.  I don't think I've ever seen it this bad, even in 2020-2021.

Why do cell service providers have to be so difficult about porting your number out? Do you really need to hide my own account info from me? I mean you required 2 factor authentication for me to get into the account and then you're gonna be obtuse and hide or make me request the pieces of information I need to accomplish the feat. 3 MFing hours and a bunch of calls later FU StraightTalk/Verizon!

First world rant. I called you at 8AM on Wednesday and you said you have plenty of stock. I placed my order at 8:10AM. Here it is Saturday morning and I still don't have a tracking number. I thought that E36 M3 would be here today. Are you that backed up or does the "Shop" app suck at giving me updates? It seems to me that the last place I ordered from that used the Shop app also took like 2 weeks to get something to me that should have been 1 day by ground.

People bitch about the river site but they get stuff to me in 1-2 days 95% of the time..

I've always wondered... since the TV commercials that run during the Super Bowl are such a big deal, why do they allow 'sneak previews' of them a week or two before the game?  If the whole point is to get people to watch the game you'd think they would keep them under wraps beforehand.

One more rant...

While watching the news this morning, the caption bar said something about Super Bowl IXL.

OK, I have nothing but gratitude for the Persians of modern day Iraq that invented zero and enlightened the world to a system vastly superior to Roman Numerals.

Having said that, I thought I understood the Roman Numeral system and I was beating my head thinking "what the berk", it's Super Bowl LIX (50 + 9).  All of the sudden, the caption bar refreshed and everything was the same except IXL was replaced with LIX.

I had to learn a ridiculous, arcane system...everyone else does too; fair is fair.

Roman Numerals Puns Jokes Bad Funny Double Entendre Tee T-Shirt

The barely one year old Whirlpool refrigerator started making a horrible sound this afternoon. The freezer side has been leaking water on the floor for a few weeks. I think the drain froze up because it fills the bottom up with water which then leaks out the door seal. Nothing like stepping in a pool of freezing water at 2am.

So I tore into it. Once I got the coil cover off, it was apparent that ice had built up and jammed the circulating fan.

I have no idea why this happened. It's in a weird place for ice to form. But 5 minutes with using a butter knife as a chisel and I got all the ice removed.

Next it was time to find out why there was a bunch of ice in the bottom.

As I suspected, the drain was blocked. Water was not flowing out the drain but filling up the depression under the slide out bin which then leaked out onto the floor. I was able to melt the ice buildup with the GF's hair dryer. There was a heating element looking loop of wire which I assume melts the ice enough to drain out. It doesn't seem very effective though. It's a terrible design.

The appliances came with the house but I'd be pissed if I bought them with my own money. I shouldn't have to deal with this on a 13 month old refrigerator.
