berkeleying Derecho bullE36 M3 knocked out the power last night, estimated around 230am from the blinking alarm clock that made me late for work. It also seems to have knocked out my desktop's power supply. Reset w/ the power switch on back and hit the button I get one little blip of light and that's it.

Drove through torrential rain on 75 that caused my car's battery light to come on twice, that's a first for me. And the pressure seems to really be screwing with my sinuses, my head berkeleying hurts.

And it's barely 930am.

I got transferred to a different store 6 months ago to clean up house after the top 2 performing sales guys there got canned on sexual harassment charges. Now I find out I might lose my job in 90 days if I can't get comparable numbers to the 2 guys they canned. Awesome.

This not a rant against liberals, conservatives, libertarians, Qreens, Nazis, Communists, or any other faction out there.. this is a rant against the radicals I work with who take every oppertunity to interject their views into a conversation with me.

I am a moderate. I lean a little liberal on social matters and a little conservative on fisical. I subscribe to no one party because I do not feel that straitjacketing myself to one party does me or this country any good.

That out of the way, I work with several very angry radicals. One is Conservative and one is, of course, a Liberal. The liberal is a little easier to work with as he likes to rail against what the government is doing. The Conservative has me pegged as a Liberal because I (and most of the world) are left of him and I come off as highly inteligent and educated. Due to this he will start any conversation with an attack on the president as he fishes for a response from myself or anybody around me.

Four words to both of you "knock it the berkeley off!"

I do not curse often, I like to save those colourful words when I am upset and need to make a point. In this respect, I really do mean the one above. I am sick to death of political drivel and if you can't get off your lazy ass to do -something- about how you feel about it.. you come off as a whiner. I and most of my co-workers are done, stick a fork in us.

The only funny point is Both of these people work in Audio Video (I work electrics) and in talking to their fellow A/V techs.. if they scheadule these two together, they literally get "negative work" done as they are busy sabotaging each other.

berkeley UPS and all your drivers. I sometimes deal with them, due to the multitudes of pictures they must have of American vendors berkeleying gophers, and those vendors won't ship by anyone but UPS.

I thought the thing I hated the most was their habit of sending me brokerage bills a couple of weeks after the shipment has been received, installed and paid for by the customer. Now I have discovered that their accounting department is populated by trolls of such stunning stupidity, that I'm sure their alarm clocks have to say, every morning, "Breathe in, breathe out, repeat as required" or they would all suffocate from a lack of oxygen.

Here is a hint, you mouth breathing E36 M3 for brain trolls: If someone doesn't pay one invoice out of a series of invoices...say, your invoices from December, February and March were paid, but the invoice from January was NOT paid, maybe to intended recipient of that invoice NEVER GOT THE berkeleyING THING! In that instance, maybe you could send a statement of account, or even phone me, instead of sending the invoice to the berkeleyING COLLECTION AGENCY!

Because conservatives can't be that, and clearly their metric of whether somebody is a liberal or not is if they are educated/intelligent sounding?

A semi pulled out in front of me today. He looked straight at me and pulled out anyway. Then he drove 3 miles down a two lane road and turned off. I was relatively perturbed. I never did find a way in my mind during those 3 miles to justify his haste to pull out in front of me then he locks it up and leaves the road. Oh well. I've done much worse I suppose.

Dear world, I know that I'm a big dude (6'1 400+lbs). I drive a MINI. Please don't come up to me as I'm buckling in and ask how I got in there. You stood there and watched me, you know the answer. Not a good approach if you're a down on their luck person looking for a hand out.

I dropped off my chainsaw for some service a couple weeks ago. Im low on the priority list since Im not a pro and I understand that. I thought 2 weeks was a bit much, but whatever. I get a call yesterday telling me its done, no charge (still under warrenty).

I go in this morning and they tell me 36 bucks. Now Im confused. I ask why, offer to play the voice mail and the guy was kinda gruff. Said he made a mistake and asked if I thought a carb adjustment should be warrenty. I said I wasnt trying to be unfair, but you told me "no charge". He actually said, exactly, "If you are going to hold me to what I said then I will give you the money back" (I picked up a spare chain so I already had money on the counter). I was willing to meet him in the middle until he said that.

Luckily I have always had good experiences at this saw shop so I will chalk this experience to a bad day.

Architect, for one of my projects, contacts me at 11:30am this past friday and informs me that he needs an electrical change notice issued right away. It can't wait until monday. Ok fair enough but our office closes at noon on fridays and the electrical contractor doesn't work fridays at all. I convince a CAD operator to stay a little late in order to do up some sketches and I send the change over to his office by 2:30pm.

He issues the change today. Turns out he left his office at noon friday and took yesterday off. GRRRRRRRRRR.

GAH! berkeleying county bureaucracy!

I will try to make this rant brief, but... sigh. Derecho took out part of a tree, which in turn snatched our power line off the side of the house, taking a chunk of house with it. We had a nice little skylight in the garage. Power company guy who was in the area (dealing with other downed lines) says not to call it in until we fix the house, so that they will have something to re-attach the power line to. Power line is still intact, just laying on the ground. He says, just don't mess with the line, don't stand on it or poke it with a stick (not his exact words). So we do that, house is fixed and even painted. Another power guy comes out and attached the line to the house, but he says we have to have an electrician put the meter on the wall, as they can't do that part. And that part requires a permit. And he has to cut the power to the house because it's "not safe".
Fine, we get the permit, we get our electrician out here and he puts the meter on the wall in the same place it was. At this point the power line is attached to the house and the meter is attached to the house, in the exact same places they have been for the last 50 years, they are just not attached to each other. The inspector comes out and says the power line has to be a minimum of 10 feet off the ground (which it has never been that high since we moved here in 1998) and that we need a grounding rod (which was not present before either). The county will not allow the power to be hooked up until these two issues are met. Sigh...
Our cheapest option (just under $1000) is to run the power line to the peak of the garage roof and around the eaves of the house to the meter. There is a grounding pipe inside the garage that should be adequate, but at this point the power line is not hooked to it. The line of sight from the power pole to the peak of the garage goes right through the very tree that dropped a limb on the original line, and it was suggested to my husband that the tree will need to be limned (sp?) back to allow the power company to run the line. This tree has issues and is about 80 years old, we have been talking about taking it out at some point. My husband decides this morning to get out the chainsaw and take it out. It is a massive Mimosa tree with three substantial trunks branching off of the base (the base is about 4 1/2 feet in diameter). It is located within 10 feet of the main power pole, and is also tall enough to reach the street if it fell in that direction. I say to wait until we find out if we need a permit before cutting it, but hubby decides to turn on his selective hearing at that point and takes out the tree. Fortunately he was not injured and all three sections came down in our yard without hitting the house (although it was VERY damn close).
I am now waiting for the electrician to come out and run the line to the peak of the garage, but I have this sinking feeling that the county inspector is going to E36 M3 a brick when he sees this tree down all over our yard. I have not been able to find specific info pertaining to county ordinance, just city ordinance (which states a permit is required for any trees being removed with a trunk over 3 inches in diameter). I have read online that in other municipalities that ongoing construction was halted for a period after trees were felled without a proper permit being obtained. I just hope this does not happen in our county. The other, more expensive option, involved upgrading our panel to 200 Amp service, which we may be forced to do if the county does not approve the other method. That will run us an additional $3000 to $4000, on top of what we already owe the electrician for the work done up to this point.
I was so anxious this morning while that chainsaw was running that I was literally shaking. I don't deal with stress as well since my car accident, so I just have to learn to deal with that. And, just to add a nice colorful sprinkle topping to all that, I have just learned that my full time job as manager of the bike shop is not waiting for me now that I am able to return to work. It has been 1 year, 4 months since my accident, and I have been able to work part time in between my surgeries and recovery, but the General Manager has decided to only offer me two days a week and "We will see what the store's needs are as far as full time employees", which means I am berkeleyed.

I would really like to blow a few holes in things right now, where the hell is my shotgun?!

I decided to enter my F100 in the dirt drags at the county fair.... I cannot find the rules or classes anywhere and no contact information. I was just going to put some mud tires on my spare Ford rims but I don't know if it'll pass tech and I'm not going to show up looking like an idiot and have to put slicks back on my truck.

So I may enter the 4x4 gasser mud runs... But again I think my tires put me in the modified class not the stock. At least they have a contact number listed. It's just inconvenient to have to hunt for such things.

I entered the street truck 4X4 drags at the county fair some years ago. Fresh modded SBC, new deep lug street tires, practiced launches in a field out back my house. I 'bout E36 M3 myself when they started trailering in 'street' trucks w/ 5 man pit crews, what sounded like drag engines and two complete sets of tires... like they run the circuit or somethin'.

Of course they kicked my ass but I did laugh my ass off when a local guy drove his diesel Dodge off the street and kicked all their asses... big time.
