Why on earth would you get a black car in Florida?! Every freakin' car I find that has a manual transmission and is in my price range, is black. I hate black cars.

The xbox people's excuse for the fact that they have to pay for something which sony does for free is that it's "better"
yeah? I have yet to have a problem with the free internet capabilities of my ps3, and I'd really like to see a quantifiable reason that xbox live is BETTER than psn by enough of a margin to warrant having to pay for it.

I guess I need to be looking for somewhere else to work, I get the feeling that my boss doesn't like me, I've been there 8 days now, at the 6 day mark he told me he didn't think I was going to work out. Really? 6 berkeleying days? That's all the time you're going to give me?
I told you when I first starting talking to you about a job that I had never done anything like this before and it was going to take me a little bit to get settled in. I left a job where I made the same money, had a year and a half tenure, and knew what the berkeley I was doing (and had NO worries about losing my job). I hated it, but now I can't go back to the same E36 M3ty position I had before because they already replaced me.
He told me he would give me two weeks to turn it around and he'd let me know his decision then, but I can't just continue to work my ass off (I'm working constantly throughout the day, inside, outside, doing odd BS, helping people, cleaning, I'm usually one of the last people to leave, too) for two more weeks only to find out you're going to fire me anyway. I have to find something else just in case, and if I do find something, I'm going to have to take it because you aren't going to let me know if I can stay or not until the two weeks are up.

I like most of the people I work with, I like most of what I'm doing, but I don't know if I want to stay even if you say I can if you were gonna fire me after six berkeleying days for not knowing how to do things I'd never done before.

Oh, and my rent is going to be late because of your stupid berkeleying 2 week pay schedule.
And my student loans come out of forebearance in a couple months.
And my wife thinks she's pregnant.
And I owe family members around $1000, the IRS around $400, $8k on my car, $27k in student loans.
And we still don't have internet, or bookshelves, or bedside tables, or any decorations, or a whole long list of furniture and houseware we need.
And the space bar on my cell phone no longer works.

There, I think that's it for me (for now)

in your original "rant" you said you pay $5X/mo for 2 phones ... I would suggest getting rid of those (when you can without penalty) my phone ... somewhat dumb is $100 every 6 mo. now your price might be higher depending on how much you talk/text ... Net10 and purchase air time twice a yr ... comes with min... if you need more it may or may not be worth the switch ... my phone itself cost only $25 that's all I got for ya
We pay $57 for the two of us, no home phone, taxes and everything included. We get more minutes (550), and some months we use them (especially when you add in night & weekend and mobile-mobile) and more (rollover) than the Net10 1500 would allow, and all of the other Net10 stuff is very similarly priced.

cool ... like I said, it might not help you .... but that is $57/mo ... right ?

disclaimer: I don't use my phone all that much ... right now I have over 6000 min ... that continue to accumulate

what I was talking about is $100/6mo X 2 = $200/6mo divided by 6 = $33/mo... leaves $27/mo to add min. as needed

like I said .. it might not be what you need

Hey, just in case, congratulations!

I know the new place is not what you know, and I feel your pain with the boss ridin' ya. Talk to him before the weekend, let him know you are dedicated and that while you may not be living up to his expectations/ your potential yet, that you would like to and ask him what your weaknesses are and where he needs you to focus the hardest. I think the way you handle the criticism is the most important thing to take away from that situation. Take it in stride and show your dedication, it will get you noticed. You can train someone to do a specific task, it is hard to train someone to be adaptable, it has to come to you naturally.

You have a lot on your radar right now. That can work against you when it comes to concentration and focus. Every little thing you listed, and probably a few more, take a piece of your mind off your current task. Take the time to get your thoughts on paper, get them out of your head so you can free up everything you've got going into the next day. When I feel stretched thin, I make lists. I write down plans and goals and get all that E36 M3 out of my head. Otherwise, those things creep into my thoughts during the day and I don't perform at my best. Works for me, thought I would share.

I don't have much to rant about at the moment, so I'll just add that I am out of berkeleying beer.

Thank you much, I'm glad I can come here to vent and get excellent advice to get things under control.
As for the pregnancy we reeeeeeally can't afford something like this right now. Not even close lol.

And I told him all that, that's the only reason he didn't fire my two days ago. He said he understands I need to learn but he can't always have me learning on the company dime. I told him I didn't know E36 M3 about these cars before I started but I guess he didn't pay attention.
I gotta figure something out. Going to try to get into the Chevy/Nissan performance shop around here, something I actually know and have experience with. Hopefully something will work out

Tuna,

Another thing that SWMBO reminded me of that she was doing late last year and earlier this year. Clickworker.

http://www.clickworker.com/en/clickworker/?customer=false

It is a crowd-source work site. You can get micro jobs that you work on as little/much as you can/want. Do it from your computer at home. SWMBO made enough to pay for our vacation this October. A friend who we suggested he look into it started to do it. His goal was to average $25/week for just doing a little every night. He just made $300 this week. The work will come in spurts, but it is a little extra without having to leave the house.

Oh, yes. There is the same scent of that crap at my new place as well. I'm just lucky..my boss is actually trying to explain to the Corporate Morons that if you kick out the talented people who make mistakes while they're getting used to the new stuff, it's just going to get worse when they try to replace them with any untrained "warm body" off the street. I hope she's successful. And honestly, since I've seen this kind of crap before..I hope she actually keeps her job. Like I said, I've seen this kind of thing before, and it seems the Corporate Morons actually enjoy "killing the messenger".

Good luck, bro. Only reason I spoke up was to let you know you're not alone.

I have told the Wife in no uncertain terms would I ever live in a place that has an HOA. She's expressed interest in living in a condo or in a gated community and I flatly told her to find one that doesn't have an HOA and I'll consider it. So far she's not found one.

When she balks, I remind her of the run in she's had with one where she had red curtains in her bedroom window (behind the regular white ones) and she was told to take them down. This was before we moved in together and got married and she was living with her mother at a gated condo community. Those places give me the heebie jeebies, like something from the stepford wives.

They all are at some point, unless you're actively involved in the rule making or rule enforcement, there's little you can do about them.

They complain whenever my hood is up (which is about once a month for 5 minutes while I check my oil) or even if I check my tire pressure. And then they also complain about "unauthorized persons" being in the parking lot (they take cell phone pics from their windows).

Seems to me that having a resident in the parking lot might discourage the persons?

But then again they also have complained when I come home after dark ("Your headlights woke me up!").

Well, yeah there's that. When I blew the muffler off the end of exhaust on the Porsche while trying to get MegaSquirt to work at 10pm one night, my neighbors weren't concerned and I didn't get anyone sending me nasty-grams. I also knew enough to quickly shut everything down for the night and close the garage to go have a beer and laugh about my own stupidity....

our wonderful GPS for the trip to Long Island took us through DC onto Pennsylvania Ave on the way up, and instead of taking us to 95 from the LIE on the way down, took us through berkeleying Manhattan on a Monday at around 930am. It was fun.

Yeah, when looking through the listings for houses if we find one that passes the initial test that we might want to look at it more closely, I always check to see if there's a HOA- if there is, it gets kicked off the list. Neither the GF or I will tolerate the crap we'd get from them.
