I work at one(Monroe, MI). Without getting in depth, what they've 'found' is a complete load of crap. I wish these people could burn in hell.
Company's official standing on it:
· Any discharge from DTE’s coal-fired power plants is regulated and monitored by the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality. The MDEQ has plant-specific limitations on discharges, and DTE is compliant with the regulations. The water discharged to rivers and lakes under state permits is very clean already.
· Discharge standards are currently under review by the EPA. DTE will comply with any changes to those standards.
The waste water that comes out of the plant is cleaner than the water that goes INTO it.... especially with the new stacks/scrubbers etc.
Don't get me started on the bullE36 M3 that surrounds coal. Working in the industry right now sucks.

I found a sweet ad on craigslist for an affordable engagement ring. I met the seller at a jewelry store to authenticate. The diamonds were tiny/crappy and the band was not white gold. They wanted 400. The store had a much nicer one for 500. The seller would not come off the price. I'm %90 sure she was a methed out stripper trying to rip me off. I passed entirely. Did not even try to barter.
'P'd off I went to a local pawn shop. Where they had an absolutely badass ring. I got them down from 1k to 650 after having it tested and talking them into resizing it for free. Now, I know they made money but it was about a $3500 ring.
Which brings me to my rant. Some people are absolutely insane. They don't realize that just because they own something does not make it more valuable. I work ridiculously hard for the little money I have and when I sell something unwanted or unused I price it at a clearly unwanted/unused price, not at a I'm going to rip somebody off and buy a ton as opposed to a little dope price.

I was out in the shop yesterday going to get ready on putting the intake and carb on the engine. I remembered that I still had to get a rebuild kit for the carb so I went to the shelf to get it so I could get the numbers and order the kit. An hour and a half later I have torn through my entire parts shelf and every other place I could conceivably think of. No freaking carb, it is like it fell off the face of the freaking earth! It was the only complete Quadrajet I had. I have a box of others but none of them are complete and that was the original off of the 403!
I suppose I MIGHT be able to find another carb at the yard. Though the sources of older iron is drying up out there so my hopes aren't that high. Oh and there is that whole pesky not working right now thing so it is not like I can't exactly afford a new carb! Off to go tear apart my shop some more to see if I can dig the damn thing up.

How is it that science has progressed to the point of realtime 3d ultrasounds, but we still can't manufacture a yellow spray paint that doesn't run/covers worth a berkeley. I don't really have time to put four coats of safety yellow on something, with flash time in between, before I install a stupid brace. I'm halfway to resorting to yellow electrical tape; quality of work be damned!
Going back for coat #3! Wish me luck!

A friend's Audi All-Road is broken (again) and she comments that she's looking at STi's and joked that the All-road broke because of jelousy. I pleaded that she not go the fartpipe route and go with a decent BMW M3 or maybe a Corvette or a Porsche if she wants a sporty car. One of her idiot friends comments about how he wipes the floor with BMW's and Porsche's in the STi. That's not what we were talking about there sport. She's looking for comfortable and reliable transport, not a modded-out pain in the ass.
So, yeah that's great that you spent the price of your STi + ALL THE BOLT-ONS! to make your Subaru faster for a single lap than something you could buy for the same money and have a warranty, factory support for racing, etc. I can respect the car mod bug and Subaru's are stupid easy to mod and can be pretty damned fast. I still don't like them, but I can respect them. I drive a 79 Porsche 924 with all of 95hp and I've built it with my own two hands and I guarantee you that I'm having more fun with it than you are and don't sound like a NASCAR driver at the end of a race when I talk about the MODs on the car.

Well I'm gone from the Euro shop. Today I was backing out a swallowtail rabbit with a 99% complete vr6 conversion, no RH side mirror. Looking over my right shoulder to NOT hit something, and, of course, nailed a pole with my left rear.
Car was absolutely gorgeous. I'm way more torn up about the damage to the car than I am about leaving that Stress Factory...

Dude, I am right there with you. The "horsepower is king" car-tards that have to but into a conversation to brag about their brand loyalty is annoying. Even I eventually had to take my euro-blinders off and put my horsepower mentality in the backseat.

Thank you both, hopefully I can find somewhere less stressful to start again, I have high hopes for the other Nissan Dealership, and The Service Director at Jaguar and I had a good conversation. I've never interviewed for a job and not gotten it, so I'm thinking something will work out.
My boss confronted me today about the fact that I'm going back to school, and made thinly veiled threats about replacing me if it affects my work.
Normally, I'm a pretty easy going guy, and don't believe in burning bridges. I just may nuke this one from orbit once I have a new gig lined up.
