Goddamn drift tax! Wife said "Hey, s14's look pretty sweet... I like them." I took this as "I get to buy another car! But do I really want an s14?" So I went to search. I need to figure out how to create a market like this for corolla E36 M3boxes, because DAMN those things are overpriced.

They are very good looking, decent handling, reliable rwd coupes. I feel like $5k is a good bottom price for something checking all those boxes, and thats abotu what they start at here. between $4-8 or 9k is pretty customary for s14s round here.

I had a fun one today. Coming up to a badly mangled Traffic Circle (they cut one road straight through and added traffic lights) and I am making a right and to head up the next road off of the circle. This gives me access to the right turning lane.

A guy two cars up in a corolla decided I did not have the right to pass him, so pulled out so I couldn't continue down the lane. I got a good yelling at as I Simply put two wheels on the rough grass (no kerbs here) and went around him. The joys of having a serious 4x4

sadly, all the S13s and S14s I have seen around here have been destroyed by the drfts. Used to be you couldn't give those cars away due to the truck engine, then when drifting came out, you can't get a nice one

I think the GM engineers who designed the later Saturn S-series engine bay should be flogged. Apparently in earlier SL's, you could access the top starter bolt from on top of the engine. In mine (2000), they changed the setup such that you had to do it from below- and it's on top of the stater between the starter and the engine itself such that you have to be a contortionist with a boroscope to even find the thing much less to get a socket on it and put enough torque into it to break it loose. If I didn't change my own oil and know the trick to getting to the oil filter more easily (taking off the passenger side wheel well dust shield) it would have been 10x harder, since doing that allowed me to reach it almost directly from the side with much less bending in places I don't have joints.

At least the car should start consistently now...

So we had a busy ass day at work today. I had a C6 Corvette I had to do a flat repair on. The tire that needed to be repaired was obvious so i went straight to that. Well it was questionable whether or not I should plug patch it because of the size of the hole. Well, being more concerned with that, I went to go get the salesman whose ticket it was to show him. He showed no interest in coming to look at it even though he wasnt doing E36 M3 and sent another salesman out. Well, the salesman was irritated with having to come out so I went straight to repairing without looking at the front tires because the shop was crazy today.

So I get done with the repair and am about to balance the repaired tire and our mechanic noticed the fronts were chorded. Well the salesman whose ticket it was decided to get pissed off at me about it. This salesman is also our manager and bitches at the other salesmen about going outside and inspecting tickets. He also decided to be funny about it and tag me in a photo on Facebook to be a dick.

I'm not saying i have no blame in the matter but he didn't do his job either and he bitches at the other sales people about it. Way to lead by example.

Not really a rant, just an "annoyance", or an observation that life isn't easy:

The girlfriend of nearly 5 years has just graduated (B.S. and M.S.) and moved "home". "Home" is 2.5 hours away from where I am employed, although it is "home" for myself as well. I like (not love) the area I'm in now. I dislike (not strongly though) the area that "home" is. I like (not love) the employer, and honestly want to have my entire career with said employer. Her career will be in a very good field, and very employable. Unfortunately, not where my career is--she would certainly be able to find a very good job here, but it would probably take 0-3 years to find it.

So now I have to wait for her to find a job, then I start to look for a job, assuming that it is not here where I am. I'd say there is about a 1/5 chance of me finding a job [that I will take] with the same company I'm with now.

The upside to all of this? She'll have a good job wherever, I have a good job now here, and can find a good one wherever she does, and in about 2-6 months, I'll be referring to her as my "pre-wife".

I really don't see the rant in this scenario... Or the problem or the complaint. Sounds like your neither hot nor cold. Sattisfied nor displeased enough to do something about it and life is finally throwing you a curveball.

My rant is that I'm planning to propose tonight. I've asked her dad and told my mom that's it... She asked me if she should wear a dress tonight. This girl has worn a dress 3 times in her entire life. Clearly the jig is up and she suspects that I got her a rock the size of a Buick with 2 paychecks I starved to save. So... I got her a necklace. .5 karat open heart white gold. I'm going to make a huge deal about (presenting) it to her tonight. Then when she breaks down and cries. Throws some chairs at the resteraunt. Ill give her the ring. I'm just mad that she figured it out. So I had to spend more money on this necklace to throw her off, because I'm a jerk sometimes and it's funny.

Don't do that. If she's like any woman I've ever met (and she may not be) the amount of sad will not be overcome by the amount of happy that follows.

at Christmas when Mom was expecting the ring, his present for her was a pearl neckless ... a few hrs later when they were alone (this Christmas was at her parents home) he popped the question and presented her with the ring ... she's told the story for yrs ... didn't seem to have upset her

She love the necklace. I gave it to her with dessert at a restaurant then we went for a walk on the river and when she turned away got down on one knee and whipped out the ring.

She's ecstatic and she even said yes.

However the service where we ate was so slow we didn't have time to go to the movies after the walk. I mean literally 30 minutes between appetizer salad and dinner. We sat there with empty glasses and plates half the time. Oh well.

I worked in the tire business for nearly nine years. The job required inspecting every customer's vehicle in the parking lot before a work order was ever started.

Anyone can have a bad day but if that is the norm for his performance, your salesman/manager sucks.

Dear my job:

I know we're busy. Busy enough to need to go to a 6 day schedule. I know that didn't help, actually made things worse because it caused people to call off/quit. The answer isn't too also extend our scheduled hours out until 6pm. That makes for a minimum 10 hour day. That's 60 hours a week. Maybe if you didn't make this such a E36 M3ty place to work we wouldn't be shorthanded.

I berking hate grocery shopping.

SWMBO has this task down to a science, and yet even when I go in for a half-dozen items I end up always being pissed off by folks who can't be bothered to follow the rules or even attempt to NOT be asshats.

As I stood in the express lane with my half-dozen items, I waited for the two clueless heffer couples ahead of me to check out their mountainous carts. At least I got the reward points from the folks directly ahead of me, so I get a nice discount at the pump next weekend on their 200 bucks worth of groceries.

Then going back to the car, this old guy decided it would be funny to park his truck about 6 inches off of my car. "Tight fit, huh?" he remarked, while he smoked what had to have been the cheapest cigar ever made. It honestly smelt like a cross between a flea collar and lice shampoo.

I guess the tone in which I asked him to move the truck conveyed urgency, because he hauled ass out of that spot.

Baconfest. Seriously, call the event Baconfest and be surprised that 10k people show up on a beautiful day in the first hour and your vendors planned for maybe 2k all day. Run out of food that first hour, while people wait 30-45min in line, after they figure out where the line ends and the other one begins because you used so little space to do this.

And make people buy tickets for $1 each to buy $1 worth of food, which ran out, and you get bitchy when someone asks for their $ back?? Be surprised when there's so many people at the entrance trying to scalp their food tickets that your ticket booth is now empty.

And keep selling beer while the food runs out, and people get angry. I'm expecting rioting due to lack of bacon as the news top story tonight. (It's ok, Perkins had bacon in stock and already cooked to go with my biscuits and gravy with chicken...)

Please let us sit down at work. We are working 12 hour graveyard shifts, standing on concrete in steel-toed, rubber boots. We get our legally required brakes (usually), but we are not allowed to sit down while working. Even if all I'm doing is standing in front of a panel, monitoring temperatures, and pushing buttons and adjusting dials, I'm still not allowed to sit on a stool for 5 minutes to rest my feet. 12 hour shifts of this are killer, especially when I get to go home and have roosters crowing while I try to go to sleep.

I hate when I'm right, I know I'm right, but I can't make it clear WHY I'm right, so nobody believes me.
I'll start this by stating I KNOW alignments. It's basically all I did at Subaru, and again at nissan.
On a 987 (boxster) today, The RR camber was maxed at -1.6 (still in spec but barely) and the LR was able to be moved completely to the nominal value. I decided it was more important for the car to not have over a degree difference in camber side to side in the rear, so I set both sides at -1.6
Now the rear toe: RR is fine, adjustable to nominal value, on the LR, however, the least amount of toe-in I could get was about half a degree (spec was between .00 and .08 I believe. So, again, so the car didn't look like this / | from the top, so it went in a straight line, I set both sides evenly.
Customer wasn't happy, they didn't bother to ask me to explain it to him, so I tried again. Same E36 M3.
Then they let someone else try. He left it all in green, but now the LR camber is -2.8 and the RR is -1.6, so the car is (exaggeratedly) like this from the front: / |
Whatever.
and this place doesn't have any shop supplies! what the fark!
