Aargh. Today was supposed to be my day off.
I had a dream/premonition that the other mechanic left/called out/something last night and, lo and behold! I wake up to my phone ringing.
The store manager tells me he walked in this morning and told him he was leaving, immediately. It was just going to be him and the manager there til 11, so the manager had to call in someone from another store to come in asap, the tire tech scheduled at 11 to come in asap, and me to come in on my off day asap.
So now it looks like I'll be working 7 days a week, 12-13 hours a day, until we find a new mechanic. Sweeeeeet.

Oh, and this stupid AP1 I've been working on has a frozen tie rod end. We got new oem inner and outer for the left side, they didn't order the boot, clamps, and lock nuts though. Now it's just chilling in the bay, I guess we're going to try to find a new lock nut for it tomorrow SOMEWHERE (I have no idea who would carry that, other than getting a JY tie rod and pirating it, if we can find a JY with an s2000 in it lol. Plus the boot kits we found all have zip tie instead of clamps, which looks decidedly sketchy to the customer (he's selling it, guy is driving a good ways to test drive it and we need to get it ready)
oh, and I get to align it tomorrow too, which should be really fun. Last time the caster had a 3* difference side to side. Gonna be hard to make it not pull if it's still looking like that. And that's with as much adjustment as I could throw into it.

Went from Pro/E Wildfire to Autodesk Inventor

Don't feel bad, I learned Inventor before I learned Autocad, that's the definition of hell right there.

I'm still obviously hoping the results come back that there weren't any issues that they saw. What will be interesting will be if they DO come back and say they found problems- because I'm not entirely inclined to believe the results given how completely unnatural of a position (for me) it forced me into. If I'd been able to sleep naturally (again, for me- on my stomach) and it came back showing a sleep apnea issue? Sure, I'd believe that and want to do something about it. If it shows a snoring and sleep apnea issue when I'm forced to sleep on my back, which I do once in a blue moon? I'm going to ask, "How can you be certain I'll still do it while sleeping NORMALLY?"

I'm guessing in that case, I'd have to do a sleep study in the clinic where they should be able to monitor things more closely and I hopefully could sleep normally while they do it...

Went to go lock my toolbox up last night, found more of my tools scattered around the garage. Returned the tools to the box, attempted locking it, lock latch broke. I raged.

Anyone know where I can buy matching locks for a craftsman toolbox?

Now, this is just a guess, but perhaps Sears?

Might want to stop on the way home to pick up a baseball bat to sort out the roommates.

Actually, don't do that. Sit them down and explain to them in clear language what is going on and that you'll no longer be loaning tools for free. Also explain that bills are to paid in full on the due date and that failure to pay on time could result in having the services turned off or termination of their living situation.

IIRC, from the small portable boxes to rollers, Sears sells replacement lock cylinders w/ keys plus all other parts for their boxes. Do some googles, you will likely find them.

Tried the last thing already. Water almost got shut off once, power got shut off for two days in June. Done with it. Lease ends Dec 1st, I'm already looking for another place to live.

Thanks on the advice for the locks, gonna pick some up on the way home from work.

Welp, you can always deny them use of the utilities when you're not there by turning off the water, turning off the power, etc, then lock the stuff up.

You're leaving anyway, why put up with their E36 M3?

Dear Pizza 'Chefs': Who ever 'created' the taco pizza should be slapped almost as hard as all the people who have mindlessly copied it. Why, you may ask?

There are no berkeleying olives in tacos. There are no berkeleying olives in burritos. There are no berkeleying olives in Mexican food or even Tex-Mex. You berkeleyed up. Stop putting olives on things that should be Mexican themed foods. Even my berkeleying Taco Omelet has berkeleying olives on it. What. The. berkeley.

Olives are fine. Eat Greek, Italian or Mediterranean Food and I expect to find olives. I'm fine with it. Just stay the berkeley out of my American version of Mexican food. And the Mexican version!

Love and kisses, Ross.

P.s. Olives, you're still welcome in my mix drinks. It's not your fault that the first taco pizza chef had a case of 'Where in the World is Carmen San Di-berkeleying Olives'?

Apparently suspicious activity was found on my spam gmail account so they disabled it. I can't use it until I give them a phone number to send a verification code....yeah....no.

So, if you could just go ahead and unlock it, that'd be great.

EDIT: Contacted the support link thing and basically said you can't have my phone number and told them to unlock it, using the above Office Space reference. And they did, fantastic.

My fiancée is a complete total wuss. She wanted to start her own car project. We worked on it for about 4hrs today and she honestly helped me the whole time, however it was barely dark out and she was tired and hungry and sweaty...

She really let me down. Full build thread with glossy photos (of car, not fiancée) to come.

When I find that gnome that keeps stealing the car keys I'm going to throttle it.

I need key technology that makes them come when called. why the hell do I still need mechanical keys anyway? have they ever prevented theft? My phone knows who I am and does my bidding when I just say stuff. If I have to pay for crap like computers to manage airbags and all the other stuff I don't want, goddamn it, give me voice command.

Most of you folks will likely scoff at this, as it is about golf, but bear with me here.

I take golf "seriously". I dress appropriately for it, I don't swear, I throw away my trash (and that of others), I repair my divots and rake my traps. But I don't play too seriously. I enjoy it because it is a fun time drinking beer with friends and/or family, and it requires attention and skill, but not too much to have a good time.

I worked on a golf course for 10 years as a caddy. I was a phenomenal caddy. And it was a really berkeleying good golf course. As in, you will see Tiger and the worlds best on said golf course next weekend on national TV. The 10 years on this world class golf course have turned me into something of a golf snob. So forgive me, when I expect the yardage markers at all courses to be at least somewhat close to the actual yardage.

But seriously, the berkeleying yardage markers should have some resemblance to the actual yardage.
