Flat on wife's horse trailer occurred at home in the driveway, where impact wrench was readily available.
Also, that little Trailer Aid ramp for getting one wheel on a tandem axle trailer in the air rocks!

The Bride of Burrito and I spent 4 hours burning back roads on the Dual-Sports today. She dropped the bike almost immediately after leaving the house and had a little meltdown. But, she was able to get it upright on her own and, after a few minutes of venting, rode all afternoon without issue.
We even found some reasonably steep gravel roads and she absolutely rocked it. Super berkeleying proud of her.
Replaced the outer CV boot in my Volvo the other day. This utterly cured the high speed shudder it would get after a couple hours' driving. The grease was gone for a long time and there was nothing left in the joint but a few tablespoons of the same kind of stinky sludge you find hidden behind the main cap bolts of a 40 year old engine.
That isn't the minor win.
The minor win, is the transmission's dipstick is in a really inconvenient place unless you have a stuffed anteater to use as a funnel. I hemmed and hawed over pulling the axle out of the trans, going so far as to pull the dipstick out and gauging the trans fluid level versus the axle seal height. I might lose a quart or so... anyway, I Went For It and the axle had to be hammered out. Huh? It's a 2 piece axle, those never have retainer clips. I noticed the spline end was dry and covered with fine rust.
No fluid came out, because the axle is not what seals the trans. The axle goes into a spud shaft and the spud shaft seals the trans. Minor win: Thanks Volvo, I don't have to add fluid to your nightmarishly bad transmission dipstick design because of your brilliantly good axleshaft design!
Made a mistake on my 2013 tax returns. Filed amended Fed and State returns in May of this year. IRS hit me with a check today, including 2 years of interest!
I just bought a utility trailer for $100.
I was hanging out at my buddies house and we were heading to Walmart for motor oil. He forgot something so we cut through a side street to get back to his house. One of the houses had a trailer sitting outside with a $100 sign on it. I have been looking for a decent trailer since I don't have a truck. Weeks of CL perusing turned up many in the $500-600 range, all beat up or cobbled together.
Anyways, I talk to the seller. He just bought a side by side and it doesn't fit in the trailer. He is tired of it being in the way and just wants it gone. Leary of a basketcase, I ask him about the wheel bearings and wiring. He just regreased the bearings and all the lighting works. I couldn't get to an ATM fast enough and hand him a benjamin.
It's a 2002 Carry-On 4x8 with 12" wheels and tires. It has a full expanded steel deck under the plywood and its rated to 2000 pounds. It even came with the spare (not pictured).
Issues? The tires have a date code from 2002 . Those will get replaced. The wiring could be tidyed up. I'll check the wheel bearings. It needs a gate. I plan on pulling the weathered plywood and raising the sides to at least 2 feet. Still, not too shabby for $100.

Nice! I think $100 is what I gave for my tire trailer last year. Cute little 4'x4' thing I can drag around with a Miata and put Hoosiers on. I think yours was an even better deal!
My 2009 Mercury Grand Marquis was a special police unit used by Canadian RCMP for VIP, when it was decommissioned they screwed up the rear brake light when disabling the blue part of the LED Police Lighting. I managed to find a local Crown Vic Taxi being parted out and for $10 I have a functional rear brake light again. Small Victory!
This could be a rant and win at the same time . . .Mostly a win!
I was offered/given a promotion to take over my original manager's position. No one really has an idea what he did . So I have nothing to reference; no job description, no goals/performance targets, and no salary range.
My current manager presented it as an offer. The account management presented it as "we want you and no one else."
I await the details . . .
Got my brisket in the smoker before F1 started. No one else up and around to bother me. Even the dog cooperated! Great morning so far.
Removed the ultra-rare and impossible to find "syncro" script tailgate glass from my Quantum without breaking it.
I have done it before on non-special Quantum tailgate glass, but when I tried to do it on the rear quater windows (same seal type) all I got was a few pounds of cubic zirconia. All over the place.
Now the question, do I hoard it or sell it on eBay...
The miata is moving under her own power again with a new rear subframe. Did it myself and saved $500.
Flat on the passat was covered by the road hazard, yay!
Drive-in this evening with the family. Sweet
4th of July is usually a big PITA for me at work. We do fireworks and my department has to power up their rig, all the food trucks, and the radio stations that show up... just got word it was cancelled for tonight due to rain, rescheduled for tomorrow... I have off tomorrow!
Recently started dating a girl that I had an enormous crush on in high school (20 years ago [berk I feel old saying that]).
Bought a drive on floating jet ski dock for $200. Same model sells new for over $1800. Bought it Sunday, went and removed it and towed it home with the boat yesterday. Still need to figure out where I am going to install it, but I have it and got a killer deal.
Looks like this (not mine, just a random internet picture):
I was able to remove all eight intake manifold bolts from my VW.
They looked like this:
Only two of them needed to have a 1/4" Allen hammered into them. They all unthreaded with ease after cracking loose.
More winful, the exhaust manifold came off without a fight! Granted, six of the studs were broken, and had been broken for a long time which is why I had to drive the past 50k or so with the O2 sensor unplugged, but the remaining four zipped right out. Didn't even need to hammer a smaller sized socket over the nuts.
Got a great call from the state and brought home a beautiful baby foster girl from the Hospital. A hopeful addition to the 84FSP clan.
I successfully sold tires on craigslist! 2 listings, 6 months apart. 4 previous "I need tires here's my number" and NEVER berkeleyING SHOW UP later, I actually sold them. It's a miracle.
Now, if that boat and those windows I have up actually move...
