Rich guy spends millions to dedicate his love to his wife and you lament that he didn't pay an income tax a decade before it was legislated and adopted?
Sorry, but you went there and I just followed the concrete trail.
Uh, sorry camper, you followed that one into the concrete wall.
I mean it makes me appreciate the IMPACT of income tax and the way it eliminated most folks from even having the dream of owning an island with a "cottage" on it.

We did a slow drive from Watertown along the St Lawrence and then down Roosevelt-Marcy Trail and camped as we went 2 years ago. It was absolutely beautiful... along the way we parked at an impromptu scenic overlook for a break and a photo op. (read: kids have small bladders) While we were there - a very "earthy" looking woman in her mid-50s pulled up and parked a beat-up CR-V in the woods, got out with a bag of groceries, waved and hopped in a canoe. She then proceeded to paddle out to a cabin surrounded by tall pines on an island in this huge pristine lake we were standing next to. I don't know if they live there, rent/vacation there or what but... whatever it is - I was floored.
The rest of the drive I kept seeing all these little cabins and houses on islands in lakes... some with cool old wooden boats, some with pontoon planes at the dock. I have got to figure out how to get me some of that livin'. I need me some On Golden Pond.
I got on a ship in Milwaukee and got off in Newport News, VA once. That was interesting. Anyway, we went by/through the Thousand Islands. We went through there at night and the houses were all lit up. The houses that took up the entire island were cool.

You BASTARDZ! All I have is some kind of ass flavored yogurt in the freezer. Now I have to run out for Turkey Hill Coffee Ice Cream and Mascarpone cheese.
Trivia: Ben & Jerry's ice cream.
I don't know which guy is which, one has aged well, the other looks like Jerry Garcia and still lives in the 60s. He has no sense of taste. Really. He senses things via texture hence that wonderful ice cream.
Now you're ready for Jeapordy!

Best ice cream? The gelato my wife and I ate everyday (sometimes 2xs) on our trip to Italy this past April. Oh yeah--I got to drive an F430 for 10 minutes on the streets of Maranello at an unnamed excessive speed.
And, we just got back from the Finger Lakes region on a Greyhound themed wine tour of wineries. Got to finally see the actual town of Watkins Glen--only been to the track previously. Was a fundraiser for Greyhound rescues! And we renewed our vows for our 1st anniversary, under the same chuppa I had made for the wedding. It was made from the blanket that belonged to our first grey (Katie G) who died last January. Yeah--got the wife to cry! Great weekend though.
Been past 1000 Islands a lot on our way to Detroit from Vermont. Guess we should stop some time, huh?
I just learned that CT has a location like the 1000 islands.
It's called the Thimble Islands.
That island is so small the town won't allow a house on it, so the guy built a gazebo and parked a houseboat there. I believe it sold for around $300k..

This ladies and gentlemen, is why it's bad for me to wade into a thread midstream. I thought this was a reference to Ybor City.
