Amen. I just hope, at the end of the day, I can look myself in the mirror and be ok with what looks back.
Stop being so hard on yourself. Are you going to cause the business to fail by your not being there? Then guess what, they would have failed anyways. And that isn't going to happen.
What happens if you get food poisoning for three days and can't leave the toilet--does the business hold it against you? Do they fall apart? No. You're not a critical employee--and if you are, there is a BIG problem. In all my time working--10 years now in the business community, big and small, I've seen exactly 1 "irreplaceable" employee. And even that employee was only irreplaceable for about 4 weeks total due to a very rare situation. Once her project was done and implemented, she was no longer irreplaceable. If you were that important, you wouldn't be able to interview for a job you think you'll get and get paid 2x as much--you'd already be making that, or more.

Quit cutting meat and miss all the jokes?
“yeah lady, I got your sausage right here”.
Say it with a Chicago accent and then it’s funny.
I had the crazy idea to start a butcher shop & even had a slogan: “You just can’t beat Pete’s meat!”
Since you came from that neck of the woods I’ll throw out the meat and liquor and tool and die company in Beecher, Illinois.
Success. I took Stampie's advice. Said I have some important personal things to take care of on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. I didn't realy lie to the man (in an Obi-Wan kind of way.) Boss said he understands
Thank for the help.
Good luck - see a lot of Operating Engineers stickers on some pretty nice pickups, a few of my bros are Operating Engineers and they are well taken care of.

Or invent another relative.
Don't do what I have done in that situation and just not show up to work while you tried out at the new one. Doesn't end well.
Definitely, most places 3 days with a no show or communication = termination.

Good luck! Hopefully the new gig works out!
I think part of the reason I was picked over the 15 interviewed candidates when I got my position, I was a bit loose with what I was doing to get off immediately and make a 2 hour drive for interview number 4.
The first 3 had all been remote interviews. And even some of those were hard to get to work.
I was surprised two weeks ago (after 2.5 years) with a nice raise and another chunk of stock as a raise.
Risk nothing, gain nothing.
