I'm officially an old guy.
My new favorite "tool" is a nifty pair of safety glasses with 1.5x bifocals at the bottom of the lens. I don't know how I ever got by without them.

I wear contacts and my vision's fine with them in, but I've always found reading glasses helpful when working on small stuff. I actually had bifocals made with clear lenses on top and 1.5x on the bottom when I worked at the motorcycle shop, but I dropped them out of my pocket on a test ride and never got around to replacing them.
I also feel a lot more comfortable soldering something up close when there's a barrier between potential spatter and my eyeballs.
Yeah, the old eyes ain't what they used to be. I picked up a 30-bit router set for half-off at Lowe's. I think I'll go make some wood dust. I'll try not to cut off any parts I might need later.
