Anyone have a calender handy? I am trying to figure out what day it is....
... then again maybe not. It was actually posted a few days ago.
Van converters have been putting these in their vans for years upon years and they've been available for purchase for years, as well:
Of course, GM really led the pack with vans that actually looked like vacuum cleaners:
I actually liked those GM vans.. one of the radio stations I worked for had one as the station van when they first came out. They were not bad to drive.
The honda vacuume is neat.. especially when you consider it is a central vac.. just one more way that cars are getting high tech than your house

From the early 1900s to the '50s there were a lot of exhaust-powered vacuum cleaners available for cars. It had a venturi nozzle that you clamped onto the exhaust tip and the cleaner hose attached to that, fire up the car and you'd get suction.
My 97 Ford E150 came with one from the conversion company. I might have used it twice in the 10 years I owned it. It's another worthless feature to sell vehicles to soccer moms.

My '02 Ford E150 came with one from the conversion company, also. I don't think I ever used it.

it's been around for your home for a long long time .... a friends ( my cub scout den mother actually ) new house ( circa 1965) had a central vac. system
yesyes.. but not too many new homes actually have it. I know no place I have ever lived had central vac.
Though, Funny story. My grandmother, who can be a bit of an airhead... had a house built in the 70s that had central air and central vac.. she was under the impression that she could hit a button and the house would clean itself

Funny I just finished reading an article about how new CAN-bus cars with all these wi-fi features and so on could be vulnerable to malware and infections just like your home pc and smart phone. The worst part is that these cars are your means of transportation and some testing has shown that the malware can make your vehicle behave in well a malicious manner towards the driver.
But the hard part would be introducing the malware.
Back on topic, this isn't a new idea, it's just one Honda has decided to advertise and all of the simpletons in this world go "ZOMG that's such a good idea why didn't I think of that? Time to buy an Oddity!"
Another '50's era vacuum gimmick was used on ashtrays. Powered by manifold vacuum, it sucked up the ashes and deposited them into a container for later disposal.
Not that new an idea at all. But, since it's Honda, it's the best thing since sliced bread, I guess...
