Watched this with the wife last night for a date. Pretty good flick. A little slow because they split the last book into two parts for mega movie profit$. Worth a watch if you care about the series.

read the books. Overall, they movies have done well with the overall feel and content of the books. Looking forward to seeing this one.
We all went Friday night. It was good. The action worked and I thought the pacing was pretty good. Having read the series I'm wondering how they'll do the last movie and not have it come off as a depressing fever dream.

I'd thought about this too. Without seeing the first half of the movie yet, I'm guessing that they spend a lot of time on their mission in the Capitol.
You know... I really like Jennifer Lawrence. And Lenny Kravitz is hawt. But I only made it about ten minutes into the first one before the boredom set it – too "Twilight" for me.

Huh. I don't really agree with that; this one has a great story behind it. Sure, they were playing to the tween girl set, but it still was an interesting story. But then I'm kind of biased; Woody Harrelson and Donald Sutherland are two of my favorite actors, and I find Lawerence to be pretty good too, and very easy on the eyes.

I couldn't disagree with you more. I hate all things Twilight.

Book first. Really good books too, even though they are for the tweeners.

You want a finished Tunatruck or a guy who read some tweener books?
Im pretty meh about it. It was all "exposition, buildup, rinse repeat" with nothing really happening. The girlfriend says that it is necessary for the second part to make sense. I'll take her word for it.
What I do have to say is that they have done a fantastic part with the CGI, AND anytime there was action, it was actually really decent.

You have to take a dump sometime. That's where 90% of my reading is done. Too much?
They're not a bad read at all. Worth the time - much better than Twilight. YA literature these days simply seems to mean "free of pretentious obfuscation".
I'm not sure if I'll go see the newest movie now, or wait until I can double-bill it with the next one. I will now be using the term "Hungry Games" to refer to it, though.
I watched the movies after watching battle royale, which the hunger games is claimed to have ripped off. I liked the first two movirs, and I read the books. They were good. I'll watch the movie when it comes out on home.format.

You need to try watching it again. Twilight was a bad soap opera but Hunger games is worth watching.

+1. I watched one Twilight. Couldn't get it. No desireto read the books. Hunger games... once you start the book it's almost impossible to put it down.
One thing I missed from the books that didn't make the movies.... the Avox.

Yeah... I don't get it either. It IS a "youth" book series though so it's aimed at the 12 year old girl market. They are sold in the same isle in the book store as Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Harry Potter, Twilight and Nancy Drew fer feck sake. I watched the first one with my then 9yr old son. Key takeaway: Jennifer Lawrence needs to prance and wiggle more.
Give it a read, GPS. It starts off as the obvious kidfight, but pretty quickly veers off into some very different and interesting areas. The first film focuses more on the action, which is only the springboard for the big stories.
She is quite comely. And let me tell you, having seen the movies and the contents of her iPhone from the fappergate episode before I read the books, it made things lot more...... Interesting. Those books are not pg13.
My only real gripe with the series is I saw the ending coming about 30 pages into the third book. I had my suspicion by the end of the second, and it was confirmed.almost.immediately.
