Not sure what to recomend. Just my new(old) music is Johnny Cash, Jimmy Buffet and late 90's top 40.

I'm a huge Rush fan. Try samplings from different decades for different feels.

Most of that was stuff I heard bouncing around on the satellite radio this afternoon.

Sevendust and Slipknot is common for me right now. Those and '90s albums from Primus.

Primus sucks. Sorry, just had to say that.

So do the Highwaymen. On paper they should be great. Wiilie, Waylon, Johnny and Kris. Mix them together and you have a slow robber, two klutzes, one knocked off a boat and one falls into a dam being poured, and a lost astronaut. It's a song dedicated to occupational hazards. How something could make such a wrong turn is the most impressive part of the group.

I highly reccomend MegadetH, Queensryche, and Dream Theater.

The Kruger Brothers. Because bluegrass/folk played by a couple of Swiss brothers is just so right. I honestly believe the banjoist, Jens, is the most talented musician alive today. My friend here locally is totally into "Independent" music. I think is sucks.

If you like Evanescence, check out Within Temptation, Epica and Kamelot.

For the Americana end of things, I really like Patricia Vonne, and Joe Ely if you like "storyteller" type songwriting.

THEY DO NOT! Primus are a power trio of pure awesomeness. The main album to get is Frizzle Fry, followed by Sailing The Seas Of Cheese.

Have you tried King Crimson? Although, like Spinal Tap, there have been 37 people in and out of the band over the years, there are 2 main iterations: the late '60s/early '70s version with Robert Fripp and Greg Lake, and the more modern version with Fripp, Adrian Belew, Tony Levin, and Bill Bruford. That's the lineup I more prefer and I strongly recommend starting with Discipline and moving on towards Three Of A Perfect Pair. For the older lineup, The Court Of The Crimson King is the classic - listen to "21st Century Schizoid Man" at megawatt volume and you'll never be the same.

I've been really into Jack Johnson lately. Usual stuff is Cake, Pearl Jam, MC Chris, Tool, and a Perfect Circle.

I would like to second Justin Townes Earle, Nickel Creek, and Fleet Foxes, and go ahead and add the Wood Brothers. One member is Chris Wood, of Medeski Martin and Wood, and his older brother Oliver is the other. The songs are so good you'll swear they're Dylan covers, only they're not.
