THEY DO NOT! **Primus** are a power trio of pure awesomeness. The main album to get is *Frizzle Fry*, followed by *Sailing The Seas Of Cheese*.

Wow--someone missed a reference.

I dunno if I have anything to add here, seems to be a free-for-all of "what I like"

I saw the Discipline tour, and that's still some of my favourite music. No shortage of talent in that band.

If you don't have Fripp's Exposure album, you should get it.

Although, like Spinal Tap, there have been 37 people in and out of the band over the years, there are 2 main iterations: the late '60s/early '70s version with Robert Fripp and Greg Lake, and the more modern version with Fripp, Adrian Belew, Tony Levin, and Bill Bruford. That's the lineup I more prefer and I strongly recommend starting with *Discipline* and moving on towards *Three Of A Perfect Pair*. For the older lineup, *The Court Of The Crimson King* is the classic - listen to "21st Century Schizoid Man" at megawatt volume and you'll never be the same.

In the world of Primus fans, "Primus sucks!" is a term of endearment.

Well since the OP mentioned Ottis Readding, and no one has mentioned anything leaning that way yet, there is a lot of decent neo-soul available now. Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings, Raphiel Sadique, Maier Hawthorne, and John Legend recently made a record in collaberation with The Roots, of classic soul covers with some new songs that sound classics.

Pink Floyd - The Delicate Sounds of Thunder. I've just about worn out my VHS tape of this concert. No band has ever sounded like them and they will never be the same since Richard Wright died recently. Most cars guys will know this, but I'll mention it anyway, the drummer, Nick Mason, is a car collector. I've seen some pictures of part of his collection, and it includes many classic Ferarris.

I just loooooove Broken Bells. Today I was lovin' Bob Marley and Max Webster while washing my car.

Pink Floyd, Jane's Addiction, Smashing Pumpkins. I ran through my Southern Culture On the Skids 'Plastic Seat Sweat' CD again yesterday.

Probably my favorite tune on that disc: 'Banana Puddin'

Banana puddin', banana puddin' Banana puddin', banana puddin'

Mama's hard at work back in the kitchen (Day old banana puddin') Daddy's on the sofa just a-moanin' and a-bitchin' (Day old banana puddin') I want something good and sweet to eat (Day old banana puddin') Something that's easy on the gums and teeth (Day old banana puddin')

Puddin' puddin' puddin' puddin' puddin' puddin' Puddin' puddin' puddin' puddin' puddin' puddin' Ain't that a slippery groove?

Banana puddin', banana puddin' Banana puddin', banana puddin'

It takes a little time to develop the flavor (Day old banana puddin') To soak it all up with your vanilla wafer (Day old banana puddin') So get out your bowl and your wooden spoon (Day old banana puddin') 'Cause I can smell your pudding clean across this room (Day old banana puddin')

Puddin' puddin' puddin' puddin' puddin' puddin' Puddin' puddin' puddin' puddin' puddin' puddin' Ain't that a slippery groove?

Banana puddin', banana puddin' Banana puddin'

Banana puddin', banana puddin' Banana puddin', banana puddin'

Well, Mama's still at work, back in the kitchen (Day old banana puddin') Daddy's on the sofa still a-moanin' and a-bitchin' (Day old banana puddin') What goes good with my meat and three??? (Day old banana puddin') A little bit of pudding and some sweet tea (Day old banana puddin')

Puddin' puddin' puddin' puddin' puddin' puddin' Puddin' puddin' puddin' puddin' puddin' puddin' Ain't that a slippery groove?

Banana puddin' Yeah! It's day old and bold, baby. So give me something funky with the skin on top Something funky, that's what I've got

Something funky with the skin on top Something funky, that's what I've got

I want some day old, whoa-oh, banana puddin' Give me that day old, whoa-oh, banana puddin'

Yeah, I'm starting to figure that out. Never got the chance to see them live. My bad.

Indeed! I saw that tour too, at the Mann in Philly. It was awesome. Belew had all these marks gaffer-taped on the stage so he knew right where to stand to get the various blends of feedback he wanted. Like a friend of mine said, the genius of King Crimson is not just that they can do it - but that they can do it again. It was pretty cool to hear them play stuff that sounds like a free-for-all on the albums EXACTLY the same way, note for note.

And a ninja edit to put FOUR big thumbs up for Southern Culture On The Skids (SCOTS). Hillbilly surf punk and more. There isn't a bad album in the bunch - start anywhere. Rick's guitar playing gets hotter and hotter. And they are car folks, too, with songs like '69 El Camino and Voodoo Cadillac. If you buy the Dirt Track Date CD you are treated to a bonus track of 10 minutes of uninterrupted stereo recording of dirt track cars wailing around the track, with the announcer barely audible in the background. Great stuff.

Replicating a free-for-all is a trademark of any King Crimson performance. They accomplished it on the Lark's Tongue in Aspic tour and have done so on every recorded venue I've seen since.

Fripp and crew just flat-out rock and rule.

When I saw Robert Plant in concert a few years ago the opening band was The Soundtrack of Our Lives. That was the first I heard of them. Bought all 4 of their CDs at the merchandise stand on the way out of the show.
