2017 Continental.
I've only ever seen one or two in my city but we hate 'murica here so privately owned Detroit iron ain't too popular.
If I had the scratch I'd just do it for what the hell. Very nice interior I don't care what they say about the screen in the article.
I sat in one at last year's auto show, and those seats are simply wonderful. $80k is a bit rich, but in two years when they are $25k used, it might look pretty good in my garage.
I don't know much about them but I like the looks of them.

I've owned several Lincolns, grew up riding around in my Dad's Continental.
I just can't get behind the current Lincoln brand. My car journalist friends love the new Continental, but I just can't move past it being a tarted up Taurus. I know Ford is trying, but when you run down the list of options on a loaded out Taurus versus a base Continental, you save nearly $6k, get AWD, cooled seats, and REAL leather. Yes the interior layouts are different, but to me the Lincoln's layout isn't $6k better.
In pictures it seems like the Continental is a tarted up Taurus. In reality, it is a tarted up FUSION which makes it a tarted up Lincoln MKZ.
- $22,120 Starting MSRP for Fusion
- $35,170 Starting MSRP for MKZ
- $45,000 Starting MSRP for Continental and you can easily get to over $80k by choosing the $4,300 rear seat amenities package (really.)

Cheapest Bentley you're going to find. I wonder if Ford got the tooling after the offer: https://jalopnik.com/bentley-designer-calls-out-lincoln-continental-in-bruta-1694753569
In any case, it is the first lincoln that has turned my head since the MkVII. I like it.

Here's the thing- MANY of the luxury cars are based of of normal Toyotas, Nissans, VWs, and Hondas. Not sure why Ford gets more singled out doing exactly what others do.
It mostly assumes that the base chassis isn't worthy. The body is different, the powertrain is different, the interior is very different. The only thing that is the same is the basic chassis (the under body metal and the suspension layout- as the tuning is unique, as well).

There was a blue on blue Continental at the auto show a couple years ago that I would love to have.
I don't know exactly what it is, but I've recently had a fairly large number of Lincolns catch my eye on the road. The paint, I think. Maybe their owners are the sort that keep their cars extra clean. Styling is crisp. If I was in the market for an upscale American-branded money pit, I'd surely consider a Lincoln.
Love the new Continental. I sat in one when we were signing the lease on the wife's MKC. If I suddenly became wealthy I would have one.

Under the heading of "the secret to success is learning to fake sincerity":
part of the plan to shift perception
Last I checked, perception and reality were not quite the same thing. At least they admit to it!
And its not so much that I hate American car makers, it's more that I perceive that they have a disdain their customers.
Disclaimer: I first perceived this disdain in the early 70s when the domestics pretty much owned the playing field. We are talking the Malaise era at it's peak. I have only been back in a domestic showroom once since then. It might very well be that they have learned a higher quality of fake sincerity since then.
This Lincoln ain't doing it for me on any level. I would ride in it, but I would not race anyone for the keys.
Go look at the rear door handles and see if you want to face-punch the designer. Totally ruins the lines of the car.
The fronts are just about as bad.
Otherwise they are super slick.

The integrated door handles are probably my favorite part of the car.

Yeah, same here. I'm not all googly-eyed about the styling, I think it's a reasonably handsome car, but those door handles are pretty wicked.

If I was in the market, brand loyalty would have me cross shopping the Conti with the RLX.
I think they look decent, with more than a hint of kia/hyundai at the rear end. That isn't necessarily a bad thing, either. I can't help but feel like most modern cars are massively let down by the factory wheels, though. A nice set with some depth would go a long way towards breaking up the slab-sided look of this car.
Meh, this does nothing for me. Seats look comfy though.
My dad was a huge Town Car fan.
Me not so much but I saw a sweet silver Marauder that sounded great and looked like it had some suspension work.
In reply to Datsun310Guy :
I recall driving a leg on a trip to Florida in a rented Town Car with some folks from the office. Dang car had a slider on the dash that let you dial in the amount of slop in the steering. At the tightest setting, the car felt like a big, floaty American land yacht. At the loosest setting, it was literally like steering a battleship with a rudder. Crazy!

Huh. I too hate the door handles. They look terrible to me.
Door handles on a car none of us will buy - most polarizing thing ever. Me and the mrs both hate them.

Life has got you so down that berkin' door handles have polarized your very existence?!?!???

I think he was poking fun at us for talking about them.

It's all done for aerodynamics. Deep dish wheels cause a lot of turbulence, adding a lot of drag to an already pretty "dirty" area of the car's flow
