What? Nissan really impressed me today. They're not messing with me like they did that ID/X Silvia 510 prototype? Are they?

A 3-slot grille surround and different headlights with a more squarish look would've gone a long way...
I commend Nissan for the idea. The execution of the idea; not sure.
I think it smart for them to play on nostalgia from when they were a formidable choice in the category. Toyota is killing it with the Tacoma and there was a time when Nissan was sort of right there with them. This sends a reminder back to that time.
I love the new old three spokes. Agree that it needs a longer bed and a king cab would be excellent. I wouldn't even ask for a stick shift because I know better than to ask in 2023.
I don't see a nod to the original beyond the wheels. Body lines are way different, they totally missed the opportunity to bring back that iconic front end and the fender flares. I do see 'flares' but they are very different from the old, they kind of get lost. Oh, and the rear widows that went up to the roof, that would have been sweet. In the end, it's another unattractive truck on the road.
If they had wanted to make it look 20 years old, they just could've stuck with the current frontier styling for 3 more years.
Instead they're going back 30+ years, making me feel like it was only twenty years and in turn making me feel incredibly old.
The Frontier is already pretty high on my list to potentially buy. This would not hurt it's chances.
Hopefully it becomes an actual thing and isn't some spec beyond the Pro-4X, and it may be a box I check.
I like that they are trying. It looks pretty good in its own right. Sure, it doesn't look like a clone of the original but Nissan is probably broke and they are trying something fun.
They have a short cab long bed combo that will almost certainly be available with this trim.
The front end change for one trim level isn't going to happen.
They posted the spec that will likely sell the most as that is the shape of truck that is most popular.
Rant over.
Since the price of new trucks continues to climb, I'll happily grab a set of those wheels as take offs for someone who wants bigger wheels and tires and put them on my last generation model. My old Frontier will look good on them too. That and 6x114.3 is super un-common.
