We are having Cat 1 hurricane wind gusts, and we are so used to this kind of thing, we are just having a drink and watching whats happening.

My FB feed is filled with it. If the trees in my neighborhood had leaves on them, they'd be falling.
It sucks.
I am in Denver right now. I'm meant to be at a funeral in SW Kansas tomorrow morning but all flights are canceled and highways are closed. I'm going to have to return to Phoenix while my mother buries her last parent alone.
berkeley you, Plains weather.
We got the smoke from the fires in the flinthills last night, the winds mostly died out in the early morning hours this morning......it was pretty wild there for a while!
Lots of broken branches down in the 'hood, and one big tree that fell on a car, but nothing like when the ice storms hit in winter!
Today it's in the mid 40's, by Tues it will be in the 80's and the next round of t-storms and tornados will drop by on Wed.....temps will drop back to the 50's again. Gotta love Spring in the midwest!

How did this work out? I'm in Wichita, so not too far from where you're probably talking about (but also not next door, either) and it calmed down a lot yesterday after the sun went down.
Hopefully this went better than what you were describing.
Hope you guys made it through OK.
The GF sent me this pic:
Our area was under a high wind warning and low visibility advisory. She said the house was creaking and groaning.
The wind blew lots of dust in. I'm not sure what the roof looks like since I'm deployed to the middle east right now.

Poorly. I had to fly back to Phoenix. There was going to be no way to get to the service in Liberal, KS in time.
Kinda feel crappy about it, to be honest. I grew up in Kansas (NE part) and so am familiar with mercurial spring weather, but this really stinks.
In reply to brandonsmash :
I'm from NE KS as well (grew up near Seneca) and agree that while I've grown up with wind as a constant feature of living in this state, the winds we got a couple of days ago were something else.
Sorry to hear that it went that way for you and the funeral.
Florida's fixing to get clobbered again, too. We had a tornado this time last week touch down about 3 miles from my front door. I had to use the birds to decide if it was a problem for me or not since there's no sirens here. My phone has been sending me alerts all morning and there's gusts and palm debris all over my yard already.
