The Waco Kid has passed.
The Waco Kid has passed.
I'm gutted. That man was a goddamn genius. In the Mel Brooks movies in particular, but Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory was one of the first movies I ever saw in the theater. Scared the hell out of me.
RIP, you funny, talented man.
From the very first day when filthy bits of slime crawled out of the sea and called to the stars 'I am man', our greatest dread has always been the knowledge of our mortality. But tonight, we will hurl the gauntlet of science into the frightful face of death itself. Tonight, we shall ascend into the heavens! We shall mock the earthquake! We shall command the thunders and PENETRATE THE VERY WOMB OF IMPERVIOUS NATURE HERSELF! -- Dr Frederick Frankenstein (pronounced Frokensteen)
I watched this interview last year and it is still great. He held himself to a higher standard and it showed.
Wow. Didn't see that coming.
On a related note, I'd love to see Mell get one more good one out. There are many many things in our modern world that could stand a good, old fashioned Mell Brooks lampooning.
you keep your eyes on this toches, and don't take them off 'till I tell you!
Damn. My favorite actor as a kid.
According to CNN, we've lost 81 this year. Usually, with a list like that, it's a bunch of people I don't know, but this year it seems to be many familiar faces/names/work.

Just saw this post.
"In an ideal world, it would be Marty Feldman who came for Gene Wilder, told him it was time, and said "Walk this way.""
Yeah, the Blazing Saddles / Young Frankenstein pair up were just amazing; a real comedic highlight. Astonishing to think they were made in the same year by the same people.
August 2016 has been rough for the Blazing Saddles cast. David Huddleston (Olson Johnson and also Jeff Lebowski) also died earlier this month!
RIP Waco Kid. What a funny, brilliant man....
Truly a great comedian. We've been quoting his movies at work ever since we got the news. He'd be proud
He finally pushed that one button on the Wonka-vator. He's not really gone, just on an amazing trip, waiting for you and I to join him.
