Number One source for news is the GRM forum. After I put the kids to bed I got online and checked out the OT forum. That was the first I had heard of the incident in Boston. I got to reflecting about that. How had such a major event happened 6 hours prior and I knew nothing about it? We tend to be very focused on the kids and making sure they are fed and their homework is done. All else comes in a distant second.

So thanks for keeping me up to date, guys!

Oh, and I will say that I sincerely hope that the person/people who carried out the attack are not citizens of this country. We truly need to find some unity as a nation, and there is nothing worse to me than an act of "domestic" terrorism. We have enemies, and we know who they are. We need to be far more selective about who we allow to get behind our front lines.

I'm with Red. I wouldn't have known a thing if it weren't for the forums.

Ditto.

While I found out about it much earlier in the day, after a few minutes watching the news I found I preferred the filter of the list. I didn't have to hear the same thing 12 zillion times and hear all the weird & wild theories proposed by the newscasters just to fill some time.

I tried the real news channels this morning and it wasn't much better. Still most of what was on the air was filler.

no foreign terrorist outfit has claimed credit ... since they usually don't wait around, odds are this is some home-grown crazies

I heard about the marathon thing before reading it on the forum. I came here the instant I found out thinking I would post about it, and the thread was already posted, and halfway through page 1. Had I been here, I would've heard about it here first.

I always check here when some major news event happens. Here you get the benefit of many people following many different news feeds so the overall picture is easier to figure out.

Plus with so many people with different backgrounds we often get information/insights that the "newscasters" don't have a clue about.

ditto. After class, I drove home....I turned the radio on as I was pulling out of the parking lot and heard something in the news about explosions. I turned it off, thinking it was yet more coverage of the middle east where that happens all the time, and I was not in the mood to think about it.

I got home, checked GRM, and then realized that what was happening
