Will you stop reading that trash website? You might as well read a supermarket tabloid....

You know, I've always enjoyed the grid girls at the Mitty. Not because I like to leer at high school cheerleaders (or are they middle school?), but because they believe that what they're doing is important and they're both proud to do it and doing their best to do a good job. Gives a totally different vibe to a bunch of bored professional models, the attitude really shows and it gives a great feel to the grid.

Honestly? I'm fine with grid girls. As long as they enjoy what they're doing and are treated fairly. You know what really gets up my nose though? Marshalls who kick me off the grid for wearing a sleeveless t-shirt, but a flock of near-naked women is okay?

The writer is Stef Schrader - she's cool and would fit in here just fine. Some of their folks are douche-canoes of the highest order though.

It's true. It's been on all of the motorsports websites this morning.

I guess that takes all of the joy of working pit out at COTA for WEC. I'll have to make sure I'm on course for that event. J/K

Seriously, I don't know the issue is. It's not like they are half naked or anything. At least for the COTA events they are in a classy little outfit. More skin is shown downtown on any night.

Moto GP is a lot worse than any of the FIA events.

They probably should have gotten rid of them a few years ago.

I think we should all convene at "The Tilted Kilt" or "Hooters" and discuss this new state of affairs.

Hooters just sets up decoys to distract from the terrible food.

Stef is such a nice goofy person you can't help but like her. As much as I dislike Jalopnik, they're giving her a venue to live her dream as an auto writer.

In reply to DeadSkunk: I find it a little shocking that Hooters had a monopoly on breastaurants until maybe 3 or so years ago, for a total of around two decades.

{ waves } Yep, that's mine. I'm tired of being asked "who are you with?" like I'm lost at the track. ;) "Fluffy Bunny" (my LeMons team mascot) seems to throw people off. Good for the WEC on this, though.

Not sure where the tabloid comments come from, though. We're pretty careful with what we run with anymore. There's a lot of stories that we pass on, particularly if they sound like a no-name Euro F1 writer pulled something out of his butt after way too many shots of sambuca and let the derp roam free on an outlet I've never heard of before. Sometimes we run with the really bizarre stuff appropriately labelled as "rumor," but for the most part, we won't run with a story unless it's happening.

welcome to the madness.. you can check out any time you want, but you can never leave

personally... I am glad to see the girls go. While some of them did seem to enjoy the job and atmosphere, I always felt it was just not right to take advantage of them in that way

I enjoyed the "Tilted Kilt" when we were in Indy last year for NCAA basketball. There is a "Twin Peaks" in Knoxville and there was a "Spice Rack" several years ago that didnt last long but that was a location problem.

In reply to whenry:

Yeah, the Spice Rack location was a wonderful metaphor for the girls that worked there. It looked really high traffic, but in reality no-one could figure out how to get in there...

Back on the original post, I have no problem with trying to reduce sexist attitudes in any venue, but I'm not sure that stopping a paying job for women who have chosen to be models is substantially changing gender inequality. It looks more like cost cutting.

The worst thing about any of those places, you'll always get that one person who shouldn't be allowed to wear that little outfit......

You'll need to log in to post.
