Looks like they are a step closer to building a quantum "thinking" computer.
I for one welcome our new robot overlords...
*and I will stockpiling steel core ammo thank you very much.
Its probably best for humanity that a french scientist is involved. Nothing french made will ever be assertive enough to overtake humankind - if a french made intelligent terminator ever tries to kill you, all you have to do is yell loudly at it and make a mean face, and it will turn and run.
No seriously this is not a step closer to Skynet, just a faster computer which brings us closer to Crysis 3
If you mentioned some new automated warfare stuff then you'd have the right thread title, but really the Russians have had an autonomous nuclear retaliation system for decades, so the only thing Skynet is missing is the will to kill all humans.
Skynet was supposed to fall in 1997. It was destroyed in 1991.
Too late.

Well there is this article
http://washington.cbslocal.com/2012/10/01/professor-drones-will-soon-be-able-to-kill-during-war-without-human-assistance/
They are making it so drones can make attacks on their own...
"Arkin added that robotic weapons should be designed as “ethical” warriors and that these type of robots could wage war in a more “humane” way."
I remembered seeing an article with something like that but couldn't find it, that was it.

That seems like a great idea! Now if only there was some way these automated killing machines could replicate themselves without human intervention...

Makerbots can replicate themselves
Not really, they make the frame panels for new Makerbots. A lot of 3D printers are partially-self-replicating that way.

Yup. That's a far cry from making their own metal tracks, their own circut boards, etc.

Yes, and we're still running DOS.

Merely delayed the inevitable. Skynet will still happen.
No fate but what we make.

Looks like you didn't (thankfully) see T3 and T4.
I thought this was appropriate:

Conversely, you could also bribe it with cigarettes, freshly baked bread, cheese, and wine......it should be tired at that point and want a nap.

I've seen them all, but how could you really follow anything after the awesomeness of Terminator 2?
Meh, I'll just carry around a mobile degauser or emp blasting machine and I'll be fine. I'd be more worried about a zombie apocalypse or idiocracy happening before skynet.

Dude, that idio thing, like man, it's here!
Oh I know. Yea technology is awesome but I believe it's also a leading culprit in idocracy. South Park took a good stab at it with last weeks episode and how low people have sunk that they are obsessed with some of the garbage they air on channels like TLC.
I'm just waiting for some idiot to actually make a statement that plants need electrolytes

If there ever is a Skynet it will be created by someone like Sheldon.

You mean the one where they forgot about Arnold's missing arm?
Remember how much of T2 is about the quest to destroy all remnants of the original terminator? That was a good idea. And the good Arnold terminator knows that he has to destroy his own chip, so John Connor lowers him into the molten steel.
But they forgot to get Arnold's arm...the one that got ripped off fighting the T-1000. Meaning they blew up Cyberdyne pretty much for no good reason.
So yeah. Skynet would still get built.
Now if the robots are smart they will make all of the terminators look like this and men would be doomed...

you read Cracked, don't you?
The problem with people like Sheldon is that they have a hard time comprehending how a large mass of stupid people is the most dangerous thing in the universe.
