I am not celebrating this in the least. It's sad and horrible.
It's got to be awful as well for the people who designed and programmed the cars, knowing that their system resulted in someone getting killed.
I'd like to know the facts of this case. The article says he was watching TV, but Tesla says that can't be done. Tesla also says that the drivers hand(s) have to be on the wheel at all times and it will take action if that isn't the case, interesting.
Yes, I have heard if you take you hands off it will beep a warning and slowing slow down.
Of course, you can rest your hand on the wheel and pay no attention.

I saw a video of some goobers with a tesla playing chess and E36 M3 with that feature. Im not sure how accurate it was, but there is that. Given the utterly odd specifics that the trucker gave, something tells me the autodriving was working fine and mr. Long hauler berkeleyed up and is trying to cover his ass.
Sometimes, more descriptive subject lines need to be used. The other thread was more obvious, so I replied there.
