never played with a true 10 speed.. the trans in the last truck I drove was a 5 speed with a two speed diff.. made for some interesting combinations
I knew a guy once put a 2 speed rear in a supercharged Torino. Texas county Mounties didn't like it being faster than their chopper.
Yup. It would. He used it to ferry certain things to places. Spent some time as a ward of the state....
If he had stepped up the gearing in the diffs.. he could be getting some great MPG and still get street cred for the 10 speed
I do know from experience with my '95 Cummins with a 5 spd, it never felt like that transmission had the right gear. In theory, this would fix that. The shorter throws would have been welcome as well. I think I would have shortened the lever a bit... like by say 50%.
he needs a Gear Vendors overdrive unit on there to double the amount of gears with the touch of a button..
I am building a truck with my 15 year old and he will not consider an automatic. Shifting gears is FUN Dad! But I am 49 and I have shifted literally millions of gears and it is not so fun anymore. One of my routes required around 500 shifts a night, five days a week. (18 speed with not enough ponies) The only standard shift I own now is my race car and that is just fine with me.
