I saw an antique sign for the stuff on the wall at the BBQ place where I ate lunch today. That inspired me go search, which is how I found the link above.

There are a few people with Hess as a last name. There are even a few Dr. Hess' around. I got an email from someone related to one or that knew one last week, wondering if I was him.
That first link Billy posted was an interesting archive. I actually found my grandfather's brother's obituary through the search page. At least I think that's him, based on the general geographic region, name and "Dr." part.
Amerada Hess is the largest privately owned oil company in the US, BTW. and they give away those great trucks!
