So I want to put peg board on a poured concrete wall. I know I need to put firring (furring?) strips up but how to I get them on the wall?

Do I use concrete nails and contruction adheseive? I hate the thought of nail holes in my wall. What if I wanna move it in the future? I think I can scrape or blast the adhesive off the wall.

Maybe I should use lag screws and no adhesive, I could fill the holes a little easier in the future.

Any thoughts? What have you used?

From my experiences (not a lot really) concrete nail will not work on older concrete, they just splinter it.

PL 400. You'll never get it off. The wall or your skin. The board will break first.

Do I need to use mechanical fasteners as well? How do I get it to stay until the adhesive sets?

lean against it for 10 minutes. you'll be fine. just be sure the wall isn't sweating when you do it.

10 or #12 plastic anchors and screws. 1/4" hole in concrete. 4 per strip. Yeah, use a hammer drill. Easy to drill, easy to mount, easy to remove, easy to patch holes. Drill through the pegboard along with the strip.

When I put a pegboard up in the garage - I just cut a frame out of some old wood I had laying around, screwed that into the concrete wall, then screwed the pegboard onto the wooden frame. It's been up for a year now with no issues.

The small blue anchor screws found at any home impo store will hold a ton of weight...well not litterally...or maybe it will...dunno. But anyway they work well for mounting the firring, just make sure to use exactly and only the drill bit specified on the package they come in. If you dont want holes in your pretty wall, PL400 will hold 2 pissed off Rhinos together by the horns.

Little blue screws- Those are called TapCons. Excellent choice, will hold a lot of weight, easy to install IF YOU USE THE PROPER DRILL BIT that comes in the box of screws. Home Depot, Lowes, any good hardware center.

thanks...for the life of me couldnt remember it!!!Between that, and forgetting to add in additional sq/ft allowance for roof pitch while figuring out how maany squares of shingles were needed to cover a garage recently, I should be ashamed of myself considering I was ast. mgr at a contractor supply retailer not too long ago
