This is what I missed:

...after a few laps I would get hypnotized by the repetitive thrills and sensations to the point where I had to slap myself in the the face to snap out of it. I was wearing a full-face helmet, so the pain in my hand was intense.

Awesome. Glad to see some more of his automotive musings again. Motoiq ranks below GRM, for me anyway, but still head and shoulders above most.

Don't take anything to the track that you can't afford to wad into a ball and walk away from...

I knew a guy that bought a 991 Carrera S and took it to the track. He loved it so much that he bought a 996 Carrera S to turn into a track rat, and kept the 991 for the street.

Absolutely spot on. Agreed with the entire article. If you can't afford to stuff it into the wall and go home financially unharmed it shouldn't be your track car.
