What's the deal with uploading photos? I used to be able to drag and drop from my machine directly to the site and now I get an error that says "Failed to the load image with the provided URL.." The image shows up in the editor pane, starts to rescale and then I get the error. I get the same error when I try and upload with the upload button.
Is there a max image size that the system can rescale?. Does it only work with certain browsers? I'm using Firefox. Is the universe out to get me? Is it a conspiracy to keep me from boring people with pictures of my cats? Help!
It's working for me using the intended path: Add post, click on the little photo/landscape icon, click upload, select photo and ok. I'm on Safari.

It looks like it might be a max image size problem. This picture is 4725x 3150 and 17.5MB before the site rescales it.
This one is 4032 x 3024 and 4.99 MB
The ones I'm having trouble with are 6000 x 4000 and run about 8 MB. Either that it's good with cat pictures but doesn't like Miatas.
And this was an almost 8MB file, it uploaded fine. 5184x3456
I do notice that my computer slows down and acts strangely when I upload something big.

Interesting. Nikon generated JPEGs perhaps? That's the other thing that the problem images have in common.
Fascinating. The problem seems to be with Nikon generated JPEGs. I shoot in a mode that saves both a RAW and JPEG image to the card. The image below is the RAW copy, imported into Lightroom and then exported. As you can see it loaded fine. It has a 6000 x 4000 resolution and a file size of 9.83 MB. The Nikon generated JPEG also has a 6000 x 4000 resolution but is slightly smaller at 8.07 MB. However, the site is won't load that one.
This is the Nikon JPEG opened in Corel PaintShop Pro X5 and then saved as a copy. That loads as well.
That too seems to point to something in the Nikon format being incompatible.
I've got a couple of work arounds now so, I'm good but, if the developers would like an image to troublshoot with let me know where to send it.

That's an interesting thought. There was a bunch of noise about adding DRM to the JPEG format back in 2015 but I don't know that anything came of that.
Because I love pointing it out, the image resizing only applies to the horizontal dimension.....
(note: this rediculous building has no sewer service, so they have to empty it will a long line of poop trucks, every day!)
drag and drop never worked for me... before or after the upgrades. It puts the frame in place, but it's just a blank frame or an error. Drag and drop just gave me this. Copy/paste works and I get this...
