The wife unit is more of a gamer than myself and brought home a PS Classic for the princely sum of $30, courtesy of a shared Game Stop employee discount. I know early complaints included game selection, non dual analog controllers, MSRP, a selection of games running PAL, and the fact that early 3D graphics have not aged well. So far I have been playing Syphon Filter and FF7. Shooters without analog sticks is less than ideal, so SF has had an extra bit of difficulty. FF7 goes just fine, at least until I cry like a bitch at the end of disk 1, again. A wireless adapter for the PS4 controller is under $20 and on my wish list. Also I will be asking around friends about jail breaking to get the missing classics like Gran Turismo, Test Drive 5, Spyro, Tomb Raider, and more.
So far I’m enjoying it. Anyone else have one, thoughts?
My wife has a playstation that her mom found in storage about a year ago. I've tried to get into it but somehow it just doesn't have the magic it had when I was a kid. My N64 though, what a thing!

Luckily my ps2 isn’t dead yet, and unlike the 4 it’s backwards compatible so my ps1 games work

Most of the games I wanted that for are now remastered on Xbox, so it's not really worth it to me. Spyro looks better than ever, same with Crash Bandicoot.
I still can't believe they packed in PAL versions of games for a US system though. Talk about trying to cash grab nostalgia.
I picked up a Playstation Classic a couple months ago when Target had a loophole within the Cartwheel phone app that discounted them to $33. Overall, I was not impressed, even at that price. I look at it more as a collectible than a functional game system.
It runs an emulator that I have on my Retropie, and since the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B has better specs than the Playstation Classic's architecture, games run better on that thing than even a modded PS Classic. Plus, I can use whatever Bluetooth controller I want on the Retropie rather than be stuck with the non-Dual Shock controllers that came with the PS Classic. The modding community is addressing this, which is a good thing.
I will say this: Sony absolutely NAILED the presentation on the PS classic. It really looks like a mini Playstation, down to the box, the color, and the controller design and feel.
I still have mine from 1998 (?) first awesome gift from my future wife. I used to dig it out once in a while and play Gran Turismo - the original, but haven't touched it since we went XBox several years ago.
I haven't really played around with PS on my Pi. I may have to give it a shot. I was playing one of the Chinesium NES 620 in 1 consoles the other day and it rekindled my interest for old console games. Gyruss is so awesome.
What controller are you using Tony?
I have both an original Playstation, and ePSXe on my gaming PC, what do I need a PS Classic for?

I've been using one of these lately:
8Bitdo SN30 Pro Bluetooth controller. It feels like a modern SNES controller, down to the button feel and texture of the plastics.
If there's a way to get GT on it, I'll buy it for that and spyro Nothing they put on it actually interested me.

Spyro is out on xbox 1 now, all 3 actually
No experience with this, but FF7 is my E36 M3.
