20,000 dollars for a Porsche 944, NO THANK YOU!
I bought my 944 for 400 bucks from the original owner. The catch was that the clutch didn't work but I fixed it and it worked like new.
I'm with you. Bought my '83 with 66K miles for $1200. Still not into it for $2000 with a new clutch and some other work.

This has got to be a prank aimed at getting people to laugh at his ad so hard they forward it to everyone. He seems to have a real talent for finding unflattering photos of the car, too:

And he wants 18K??? Rusting at the wheel well, Florida plate, so big bucks to transfer into NY. I think the bad spelling is just one sign of his stooopid.

No, he wants 18 dollars. I think that's reasonable.

Really? 18 Grand for some heavy rims, a roll bar and some seats?

ROFL! It's a dealer. They see the Porsche nameplate and their dreams get really big...
The reason for such a high asking price is because the previous owner sold his soul to the devil for this Posche. You are not only getting a simple car for 18K, your also getting a dumb mans soul for 18k.

Wow, that 944 gets around- a few months ago, it was being offered by a used car dealer in Denver. At least, I hope there is not more than one out there with that particular combination of interior modifications

Maybe scammers are borrowing it for photos? That might make them the dumbest scammers on the planet to ask for that much for it...

Ok, it's been hit in the front, had the title salvaged, hit in the rear as well. One of those hits was hard enough to break the seat frame. The rear is rusting badly, it needs a rear hatch and evertyhing that's associated with it. The current owner doesn't even KNOW how many miles are on it, and it has a blown motor!
The $20K 944 makes another round:

Price reduced to $18999
that isn't just a 944, it is a 951 turbo, and it looks in GREAT shape. Probably doesnt warrant 19 grand, but it is a nice car.

Seriously... where's the rest of the truck and you want what for $800?
Mark
Best "crack pipe" deal on CL I have seen was a guy selling OEM MKIV GTI wheels with falken ziex tires (pretty cheap, even in 17"), and he was asking $1700 FIRM for the wheels, seemingly based on what the dealer charges for a new old stock wheel + tire cost.
I sent him an email telling him I can get a set of BBS wheels off of a PVW feature car for that much on vwvortex, and his wheels will sell for roughly what he paid for the tires + $75. He wasn't too thrilled with what I sent him, and did not believe me, so I posted no less than a dozen links. His ad disappeared into cyberspace shortly after that.
Heres a good one:

I am currently making a everyday jetta into a beast! it is now got rims and window tint. underglow. it added around 30hp and 20lbs of torque or so.... its tight. but anyways its fast and beats alot of cars. so i just need any parts for my beast. mayb some stickers or crome pieces. including exhaust tips )crome) maybe some blue or red seats covers with flames. blue or red steering wheel cover and more neons for my dash board. just no ricer E36 M3.
THANKS
DAN C.
In reply to DukeOfUndersteer:
30 hp and 20 torques is a lot for tint and neon. I would have figured maybe 10 hp and 8 ft.lbs. myself.
