Rental car? Rent a car for the wedding day, drive your good car to rental agency, get the insurance coverage. Return it the next day and retrieve your prized car. That is only if you can't look at your buddies in the eye and say, don't f with my car.

I don't see the big deal over some white shoe polish on the windows and some cans & twine. I thought that was "tradition," not "vandalism." Then again, I don't know anyone dumb enough to berkeley with the paint or break stuff.

Several of my friends don't know where to draw the line. I'd have no problem with shoe polish on the windows. These jokers would put silly string, shaving cream, and other stuff on the paint and would probably ding/scratch the car up while doing it, to boot.

I've already done that. One or two of them are the type that are going to do it just because I asked them not to. I'm pretty close to throwing them out of the wedding. So berkeleying what if I have 2 groomsmen to my fiancee's 4 bridesmaids.

My plan has always been to have several pictures taken with the car in our wedding finery, and then a few more taken as we leave the wedding in the Mustang. I was planning on putting a pink vinyl "Just Married" decal on the rear window. I think you can understand why I don't want phalluses drawn on my car with shaving cream.

In reply to Sky_Render:

Yeah man. That's berkeleyed up.

Having someone "guard" the car sounds like a plan. Or taking the pics before, and renting something, using uber, etc as others have mentioned.

Sorry dude. That's lame.

Also: Never ceases to amaze me how some...hell...MOST people effectively treat cars like they would a pair of old sneakers. I was behind my shop having a smoke DAYS after I bought the V. A pair of older couples is chatting on the sidewalk and one of the old dudes decides to use my berkeleying fender as a bench for his fat ass. It got really ugly really quick.

Taking pics before or after the wedding/honeymoon would require "re-mobilizing" the photographer, which equals $$$. I might call the photographer and find out how much that would cost, though.

Shaving cream and toilet paper is vandalism now? To me Vandalism = something you can't go to the car wash and take care of.

This.

That's super berkeleyed up. I wouldn't even care about the shaving cream on most of my cars, as the paint is berkeleyed anyway on pretty much all but two of them. But if anyone puts piss of any kind in any of my cars, they will die. Plain and simple.

This.

You seem to be laboring under the delusion that shaving cream and the like doesn't mar a paint's finish. It does.

those one or two that don't get it ? they'd be gone so fast they wouldn't know what happened .. and like I said earlier … po-po called if they showed up

keep in mind that if they really are this assholly that they might show up (not in the church and berkeley with your car even worse because "you can't take a joke" … so a couple of big guards with tire irons waiting in the parking lot …

plus I'd dump them as "friends" … 'cause friends they ain't

That sounds like asking for his car, and maybe his bride to be vandalized

I used my pretty much mint 85 911 for our wedding. We had a pretty small wedding and I warned/asked people not to berkeley with the car and we had no issues. I did have anger issues at one point in my life, so maybe that helped, but I don't know. I'm just glad no one messed with my car.

Also being a car guy/addict it was pretty much the best part of the wedding for me to have one of my favorite cars there. It would not have been the same without it, so my advice is to do whatever you need to make sure the car is safe, but definitely include it.

Maybe place a severed head on a pike near the car as a warning to others?

To be fair, what I was thinking as a "prank" is way different than what was posted.

Thankfully we got married in Vegas, with only moms/dads, and had a Limo from the Little White Wedding Chapel. So no worries about shenanigans. Although we had 125+ at our reception later, still no shenanigans.

I guess us simple OKies don't like screwing with others peoples stuff.

You don't berkeley with another mans vehicle...

How much more simple does it get?

This applies to tools, motorcycles and girlfriends/wives as well.

Try screwing with a guys bike, I dare you. There's an unwritten law that says you don't so much as sit on another persons motorcycle without asking.

pretty sure my family/friends know they would die if they did anything to any of my cars. I drove the belair and Gimp drove the chevelle from the wedding location to the party. rolled in, 2 loud v8's, good times. nobody touched anything.

We used a decoy car. Mine got "decorated" and we drove away in Hers.

what happened to the one that got decorated? Oh, not much. My single male cousin had to drive it back to our house while we were off on our honeymoon.

Mine was still growing grass years later from all the seeds in the door gaskets.

I/we enjoyed the honks and waves from other folk as drove home in our decorated newlywed car (soaped windows, cans and white confetti?).

A few friends of substantial size who are willing to keep an eye on the car and keep things under control can help. So can friends and guests who understand reasonableness. I think there were a few of the former, unbeknownst to me. Mostly it was the latter.
