Pool filter sock over vac filter to help preserve filter life. I'm gonna try this. As seen on YouTube.

Probably just another hare-brained idea.

Will see how it works.

I don't bother with a paper filter at all. I just zip tie the foam wet filter on. It has worked fine for years. You can just pull it off every now and then and knock the debris into a garbage can.

I've been told to "put a sock in it" once or twice.

Not sure if related.

I wrap my shop vac filters with an old cut up tee shirt as a pre filter. When it gets time to clean, almost all of the dirt is on the outside of the tee shirt which I blow off with a electric leaf blower as well as the filter which is always surprisingly clean.

Sort of related, how well do the off-brand filters on Amazon work? Or does everyone go with Shop-vac filters?

I saw a washable filter for drywall dust somewhere, but never tried it. I like the idea of something re-useable. I generally clean my filters by knocking out the crap a few times, but moisture kills the paper after a while.

My smaller vacums all have washable socks that work well. I'll have to look for a larger version.

I have the washable filter in my ancient Craftsman shop vac.  Multiple home remodel projects and over 15 years or use and it's still in great shape.  Knock the surface dust and debris off then a good rinse and dry and off we go again.
