Caught a break this weekend - my wife wanted to check out some furniture at a flea market and one of the nearby stalls sold nothing but die-cast cars. Their stock was in the thousands. Here's what $25 got me:
Triumph TR6, Datsun 240Z, ‘68 Nissan Skyline, ‘70 Toyota Celica, BMW Z4 GT3, BMW E36 M3, Porsche 997 GT3 RS, Lotus Evora GT4
‘59 Chevy Corvette Stingray concept car, ’68 Chevy Camaro, ‘65 Ford Mustang, Ford GT40, ’76 Tyrrell P34, Mini Cooper, Shelby Cobra, ’04 Ford Shelby Cobra concept car
There is a prostreet corvair greenbrier coming out in the set that is replacing the Cool Classics that will be awesome! I can't wait since the Heritage line will mix redline wheels on some castings and real riders on others in the same mix. I would post images but they haven't released them yet, should be very soon!!!
Not sure, won't be out untill the classics line is done so maybe first quarter. There are two mixes of the cool classics still coming but they probably will go to subscribers, vendors and dollar stores. I have better luck at meijer/wal mart but they don't order that stuff for Christmas for some reason. Last two mixes are going to be the best, skylines, 510, 911 etc...

Which means they won't get made, or be nearly impossible to find at retail...like Racing and Vintage Racing and Boulevard and Flying Customs and Cool Classics and...
;-)

That 65 stang is a zamac, neat find.
Not zamac, just metallic silver.
The first three zamacs for 2015 will be ElCamino, lambo aventador and the Shelby super snake.
I dunno if this one's been posted yet, but I found it at Target this morning, and I just had to have it!

Or sold in Canada and Malaysia only.
They do know how to build hype....
How much is the set? Those are the set that were only released to canada and Malaysia or something like that. I traded for a set from Canada and bought extras of the ones I wanted but boy were they pricey when the US collectors realized we were not getting them!
In reply to nderwater: I need that Tyrrell! I've been searching for those ALMS Z4 coupes with no luck, I know they're a couple years bold but damn.

I agree; however, a lot of people would look at it as they were 5-6$ at Walmart so it's not bad to be able to buy the set for not much more. Also, when they were in the stores the vettes and gt40 dissappeared right away so completing the set was nearly impossible.
Mattel distribution on things that are "collectible" is a joke.
I found these at the going out of business Kmart. They are way more expensive than regular HW cars but are they worth picking up for any reason other than want?
They're from a premium line, so they have rubber tires and metal bases. That's why they retailed for $5. Chandler would be better versed on their current value. I think it's been a year or more since they were readily seen in stores.
I'm not a collector, but I have a Hot Wheels story.
Pop's first new car was a 1967 Mercury Cougar. A couple weeks ago, I happened to walk past the HW rack at Walmart and this caught my eye.
'68s were so close to '67s (only difference was federally mandated side-marker lights), I just had to get it.
I stopped at my folks house, and asked Pop what was his favorite car, that he's ever owned. I knew his answer would be the Cougar. I told him I had a surprise in the driveway for him. I told him to close his eyes, as I led him outside. Even though it was only a tiny replica, he just about melted, when he saw it.
Great story MiniDriver! Love that casting. Is that your pic, if so the rear wheel appears to be an oh5 and the front is the correct mc5. May be a reflection though.
Those Atari cars are still hanging in the krogers around here also, they don't have any intrinsic value besides the cool factor.
