Oh, one other recurring dream I have somewhat rarely now is where I "forget" that one(or more) of the cars I drove in HS/College are parked in my parents garage, so I go get it out & take it for a drive.

Mom sold the house in 98 and has been dead since 04, so the cars definitely aren't there anymore. Although I do know where/who owns the 70 Ford XL vert(though I have zero desire in owning it), both their 77 Country Squire wagon & 78 Lincoln Town Car(which I would like to own) rusted away decades ago.

I have had them over the years.  The familiar house where you find hidden staircases leading to previously unknown areas was really common.  Unfulfilled personal expectations, apparently.

Tripping on railroad tracks with a train coming, scrambling to get out of the way, but unable.  Life out if control.

Funny thing, though.  If I realize during the dream that I've had the dream before, and wake from it, I never have that dream again.  Ok for some, not so great for my Sally Field dreams from the 80s.

Heh.  I remember "a few years ago" (must have been more like 20), I was hanging out with a bunch of friends, some of whom were still grad students.  We were talking about recurring dreams and I recounted one where I'm in school, it's 90% of the way through the quarter, and I've just realized that I'm signed up for a class I have never attended and the final is tomorrow.

So I get done telling the story and I hear this loud wail from the back, coming from a normally-quiet woman who was one of the grad students saying "YOU MEAN THEY DON'T STOP WHEN YOU GRADUATE????"

...no, they don't.  I still get them to this day and I was class of 1994 :)

I still occasionally have this same dream, vivid as heck even now.  I have been out of college for more than 30 years, yet this same dream still shows up from time to time.

I have dabbled in dream interpretation.  It's hard since nothing is really set in stone.  Sometimes dreams are just random synapses firing and don't mean much.

Recurring dreams are usually your brain telling you something.  If I'm cast in a show, I often get the naked-in-public dream for several nights before opening night.  That is a sign that I am feeling exposed, or facing something that could be embarrassing.  It's my brain expressing fear that I'll forget lines, or mess up because I don't feel prepared.  It's the what-if motif.

It's very similar to the "oh crap, there's a final tomorrow" dream.

David, you can google dream interpretation.  I find it easiest to isolate keywords since dream interpretation usually isn't about the whole feeling, it's the sum of the individual parts.  When you interpret dreams, the key is not to ask "what does it mean to dream of driving a red truck really fast on the highway?"  The trick is to separate it out into driving, truck, fast, highway, and red.  The point is, it's not about how driving a truck really fast made you feel in the dream.  The feeling in the dream isn't what the dream is necessarily trying to tell you.  It's the key details about the dream.

For instance, you might wake up from that dream feeling awesome because it felt fun to drive fast in a truck, but the interpretation of the dream is maybe that you feel like you're in charge of something (driving) that you feel is either out of control or going better than expected (fast), you're handling the burden (truck) and are hopeful for success (highway) but something is making you trepidatious or angry about it (red).  In this case, maybe trepidatious about the methods being used since the truck is the red object.

Another recurring dream is I finally get to drive some sort of "dream car" (usually a Ferrari 308 GT) and I get it cranked up only to find the brakes don't work.  Pretty sure I have issues with not feeling in control of my life.

Seems unrealistic, you must realize it's a dream when you are having it?

I just remembered, in the six weeks coming up to my heart bypass surgery early last year, I would dream about finding various cuts of raw meat on my front lawn, in my car, at work.

Googled it, because it was not anything I'd ever dreamed before, and was not shocked to discover it was a sign I was concerned about my health and financial position, and felt unprepared.

Mine are definitely mediation induced.

You are actually a viking and this reality is what you dream every night.

Then my Viking real meat person has terrible taste and you guys are all not real.

Oh, you want to talk about dreams?

For all my life, I've had some of the wackiest, most vivid, extremely detailed dreams. Friends and family say I should write a book or screenplay about them, and I might, because they are freaking WEIRD. I can remember them all the way back to when I was really young, before I could read. Some fun examples of my slumber insanity:

-As a kid, driving around KITT with my aunt riding shotgun through the obstacle course at the end of the level in the video game Paperboy, and my aunt was yelling at me to slow down and not hit the jumps (both KITT and I kept telling her to sit there and be quiet). We did not slow down, and we hit all the jumps.

-A college friend and I stole some guy's mozzarella sticks from a pizza shop and ran over to a museum across the street that was "members only" that our other friend worked at as a security guard. He let us in, and we set up a folding table while eating the delicious mozzarella sticks in front of the guy, while our other friend blocked him from entry. He was less than happy. His loss.

-My first dream ever: I came home from walking around a neighborhood with a friend, and no one was home. A vacuum with a dome on top with a brain in it was vacuuming the rug, and I got scared of it and ran out of the house. Friend was gone and I was alone in the night. Then the logo from The Price Is Right that used to zoom in on the screen appeared down the road and zoomed in and chased me until I woke up screaming.

-My sister and I got into an argument in my uncle's driveway and I somehow morphed into Macho Man Randy Savage, climbed a dresser that was inexplicably in the middle of the driveway, and dropped the elbow on her. A ref appeared out of nowhere and counted the 1-2-3. I won the argument championship belt.

There are a lot more where that came from, but I do have three recurring dreams that I've had over the years:

-I'm strapped into the back seat as a little kid in my mom's old 1970 Olds 98 Convertible. There's no one in the car but me, but the car is driving me around, usually to my uncle's house. I can't get out. At first when I was having these, I was scared, but I eventually was able to talk to the car, which would talk back to me, and when it did, the horn button on the wheel would light up. Haven't had that one in a long time.

-I am driving around in whatever project car is under the knife (99% of the time it's my Trans Am), and it's all done and shiny. I wake up excited to drive it, but nope, it's still decrepit and dead.

-The one I have most differs slightly every time but involves two constants: My uncle's old house on the beach and water. My uncle used to have an amazing old stucco house right on the beach in Hull, MA. The house was a massive 3-story house, and I spent a lot of time there over the years. In the dream, we'd be visiting at the house and water would start coming in the door in the enclosed porch. I'd panic, but everyone else would ignore it like it was normal. The weird thing is that the house NEVER flooded in real life. Not even once. It was surrounded by a cement and stucco retaining wall and had a "moat" surrounding the foundation of the house. Even when the water was feet deep in bad storms on the street, the basement  and the house would be bone dry. That dream has continued, even since my uncle sold that house and even after he passed away.

And no, I don't eat anything weird before bed, do hallucinogenic drugs, or lick toads. That's all natural weirdness going on in there. I consider it a blessing. It's fun waking up after having yet another ridiculous adventure and telling friends and family about it. laugh

For years I had a recurring dream of being out in the plains with a tornado bearing down on me and no way to escape it.

Now I have violent apocalyptic dreams that are truly disturbing. I'm not a fan.

I'm riding an impossibly tall bicycle. Sometimes it's a trail ride, sometimes it's a road ride. I either begin to fall while negotiating a left turn (trail), or I have to get past a power line (road). In both, I begin to fly rather than fall. Sometimes I land in the backyard of my best friend from elementary school, and his mom yells at us before serving us apple pie. Sometimes I transition into a hot air balloon or a silent helicopter, which I have to land in between power lines. I wake up wigged the berkeley out.
