Have you ever heard that Laughter is the Best Medicine....
Not in this case!
God forbid you have to sneeze! Rib hurt is real hurt!
Ive been clean and sober for well past a decade. No cbd oil. Sorry....
Coughing hurts bad enough. Don't even want to IMAGINE sneezing.
I cannot think of anything that has hurt worse than thiz (physically) that i have experienced clean and sober.
I don't know of anything off hand other than pain killers. I ended up using over the counter Advil or similar but it was a rough couple weeks both times.
When I cracked mine they used to wrap them, don't! Restricts breathing then phuenomia sets in.
My only tip is don't sleep with someone that tosses and turns.
Haven't broken a rib but I have torn the muscles on the inside of my ribcage. Hurt bad enough that I thought I was having a heart attack. Doctors said "at least you're not dying, it'll get better." When I have broken bones I can't sleep for 2-5 days. It sucks.
In reply to 914Driver :
I did not know that about pneumonia. Mine were always (I think 3 times) wrapped, but it's been 30+ years since the last time.
Maybe I've gotten a tiny bit less foolish. Nope, probably not.
This is all kinda what i was thinking.
It would be different if there was an awesome story to go along with it instead of just having the norovirus last week and being violently ill.
Sitting in the companycar doesnt hurt. Wonder if anyone would notice if i left it running for air conditioning and slept in it.

No, just need to be careful. BJ's are the most effective non-drug pain relief.
I would double up on Motrin. If you have to cough, sneeze etc grab a pillow and hug it tightly. There isn’t much else you can do but ride it out, and they will be sore the whole time.
I towed my dad water skiing a little to fast. Like 35 mph. This was at the urging of his cute girlfriend who was not much older than me.
He hit a wake from another boat, fell, hit the water, and cracked a rib.
He was major pissed at me but his cute girlfriend egged me on so what can I say, I was 18.
Anyway his relief was Tylenol #3 and taping his ribs. He only needed the pills for a few days but had to keep the taping going for a month at least.
He didn't go water skiing ever again after that. The End.
I've cracked a rib 3 times. Apparently I have weak ribs.
The only thing I can suggest is benadryl for sleeping. Falling asleep while in pain sucks. Pain killers don't really make the pain go away, so you're always hurting. wrapping doesnt do anything. The pain will stop suddenly. It's not a gradual improvement like most injuries.
I kind of want to know if you have a similar story as me, since I also cracked some ribs due to norovirus. I’m afraid I can’t help much, as for the first several days after I needed some sort of narcotic painkiller to sleep.
However, if you have an automatic transmission car, use it until you heal up better. Pressing the clutch hurt like hell.
Only things running are automatics, so i gyess i got that going for me.
On a sidenote, never thought i would fear the hiccups. That was bad.
Ill try Motrin. Alieve and Tylenol dont do a damn thing.
Benadryl just makes me wired, so i cant use that. But ill double up on the tension tamer tea. That stuff usually knocks me right out.
Heat or ice?

I certainly didn’t say stop!
I said take it easy.... meaning be careful with activities that involve trapezes, ropes, contortions, and aggressive contact.
Nows the time to concoct a fabulous bullE36 M3 story. Something, something, ninjas, something, golden treasure, something, something...
It's gotta work better than the truth.
Assuming you guard against CO poisoning, the sleeping in the car might not be the worst idea ever. I've not cracked ribs before, but I have bruised them and sitting up to sleep got me the most rest. We have a padded reclining rocking chair that I could lean back just enough and then prop myself up with rolled up towels so I couldn't really move around but also didn't need to hold myself up either.
