Taking out a loan against my house for an old English car is not a bad idea right?

I was looking at those the other day. I approve.

You only live once. I approve of this insanity. I've always loved those.

Did you hit the tree on the way up, the way down, sideways or, like my Mom on my minibike, straight on?
Do car parts-bellhousing, hydraulic clutch bits, etc-count as ridiculous here? It does at my house apparently

Even though I have enough guitars that I'm not exactly sure of the exact number I have.....I bought another
SX Liquid. I've wanted a 3 p-90 one for years but I've never bought one. It popped up on reverb for very cheap new and I said berkeley it
I have a couple of guitars and a bass, but don't mess with them very often.
However, I still want to buy two more. One, because the Flying V is basically impossible to just sit in a chair and jam, like you can with my cheap little Squier strat.
But I also want an 8 string so I can learn to play Meshuggah.

Each time I try to put together a humorous sentence regarding typical British car reliability it reads like a condemnation of even thinking your question...So "Good Luck!"

Just be sure you fit. A buddy of mine is a classic car appraiser (talk about a great gig) and says he loved these until the first time he had to try to wedge himself into one. I guess it was one of those "never meet your heros" moments. Apparently a quick buzz around the block to ensure everything worked was all he could and wanted to do.
As for me, I haven't bought anything huge, just an endless stream of little stuff needed to keep making progress on the model railroad I'm building for my son. This has been happening a lot lately:
EDIT: Didn't work out. This thing was not at ALL as advertised.
I have been tempted by much, but have limited purchases to a new jacket and some gear for the motorcycle.
I feel it was perfectly reasonable of me to buy $300 of cheap tooling for the lathe/mini mill. Why am I posting in this thread?
I have not made any ridiculous purchases. Instead I spent a grand on crap I need such as a new lawnmower (have had to cut the grass twice already with it), dual monitors for the computer so I don't go insane working on the crappy tablet my employer provided for me to WFH with, and a reman Herman Miller Aeron desk chair so my back isn't killing me at the end of every day. Dammit, I could have blown that money on some irresponsible E36 M3!

I am only 5 ft 9, but regardless it is not going to happen no matter how much I would like it to.

I've thought about those as well. So much of the stuff I listen to is down tuned a full step, and then some even more. Like Mastodon, everything starts a full step down, then they do Drop-C and even Drop-A from there on some songs.
I may of purchased 25lbs of bulk candy on Amazon yesterday. Gummi bears, Mike and Ikes, Hot Tamales and Good and Plenty. I have about a half dozen airtight storage containers that I will store the candy in in an attempt to ration myself. This is why you should not shop online while buzzed. Everything seems like a good idea.
I'm my own worst enemy sometimes
I wasn't going to post this but I guess it is kind of ridiculous. I bought a 9mm threaded barrel (on sale!) for my sig p250 and since I don't have and probably never will have a suppressor I bought the thread cap(separately) to protect the threads. I also had to buy a magazine for it and ammo since I didnt have a 9mm before this. For reference I already have 357sig and 40s&w barrels for it, but that totally makes sense since those two calibers share magazines. Now I have options!
I bought 15 kilograms of filament and resin in the last week to keep the printer farm running. I had to stock up since quality, reasonably priced filament is getting hard to come by and the resin was 50% off.

Alright. Ferraris are out. Too hard to find a decent hard top 355. That's fine, I REALLY didn't want to maintain a car that needs "engine out " service. I did however find that early vipers are down into Camry money, and that seems like a cool way to die.
I sort of agree with you on the cheap(er) Ferraris. Just don't know if I would ever be able to stomach the maintenance. Maybe if you could find a F355 that just had a major service like Cotton mentioned.
That said, I think the best bang/buck in the Esprit world is the late eighties Stevens models. I've seen those in the $20K-30K range. They're not many available at any given moment though.
Here's maybe one of two I see in the country on Autotempest: 88 Turbo 53K miles $21K Linky
I'll probably just go back to tinkering with my MR2 though...
Seeing where this thread has gone, I feel like a lightweight, if a reasonable one, with this outlandish purchase:
Doritos came up sometime recently. Maybe someone was eating some on a virtual happy hour. I got the craving stuck in my head. They lived up to the craving, and now I'm curious to see which one strikes next (and how long the box lasts).
