Singer/songwriter Mac Davis passed away this morning.

Probably the second most famous person from Lubbock, Texas.  After Buddy Holly, of course.

Can't place Mac Davis?  Elvis recorded some of his songs, and Mac had some hits of his own.

Nooo!!!! Mac Davis too?!

He also had his own variety show on TV for about three years. He was a really good overall entertainer.

70’s Adult Contemporary has taken a major hit today.

overheard from two coworkers today:

My boss: Did you hear Mac Davis died?

CSR lady, of approximately the same age: Oh no!....What song was it he sang again?

Boss: (mumbles some song I didn't catch)

CSR: Oh, right...(thoughtfully) I hated that song.

I laughed my butt off. I'm using this for every singer that anyone ever asks me about from now on. Doesn't matter if I liked them or not, that's gonna be my response.

"In The Ghetto" is my favorite late-Elvis song. RIP, Mac, and thanks for the tunes.
