Mickey Rooney, Master of Putting On a Show, Dies at 93
The exuberant entertainer who led a roller-coaster life — the world’s top box-office star at 19 as the irrepressible Andy Hardy, a bankrupt has-been in his 40s, a comeback kid on Broadway as he neared 60 — died on Sunday. He was 93 and lived in Westlake Village, Calif.

He was a great talent, but I did not know his life was such a train wreck.
I think that if you were to ask him if he had a chance to do anything differently he most likely tell you no. I bet he had more fun living life then any 3 of us put together.
I of course remember the "Bill" movies as a kid but the only performance he did that will stick with me is

There used to be a hotel here in Downingtown that he was affiliated with. It's now an assisted living facility. This is the only photo I could find of it. It looks like it was taken right before the assisted living remodeling began.

There used to be a billboard for it on Route 30 with the same giant head.

File Mickey Rooney with Shirley Temple Black in Duke's "I Didn't Know They Weren't Already Dead" folder.

You can cry a little, but you gotta laugh.

Saw a blurb where Mickey was married 8 times. EIGHT times! After that, words fail me.
When I was a kid, those movies from the 40's were often shown on Saturday and Sunday afternoons in the winter. My mom and I would watch them whenever they were on. They were formulaic and corny, but he was a good actor and always kept your interest.
He was 5'2" with red hair and a notorious womanizer.
Respect.
