It appears to be suicide. Wow.
I couldnt listen to his stand-up stuff because of language, but I liked his movies and LOVED Mork and Mindy.

I'm really hoping that he found his way to a "We never close" diner with comfortable chairs and bottomless coffee, and sat down at a table with David Foster Wallace, and one of them raised an eyebrow and said, "So, how you been?" and the other one said, "Sucks, doesn't it?" and then they talked and riffed off each other all night.

Wow.

He was a genius. Very sad.

berkeley, celeb deaths are normally jsut blah to me, some non real person has died/shot themselves/OD/been murderd, whatever. But this? berkeley, it's like a real person, some one I actualy knew has passed. Empty feeling.

If it is indeed a suicide, I shed not one tear for him. Stupid waste, nothing more.

I was saddened to hear the news, especially since I had been watching a Robin Williams movie the night before ( August Rush ). But, unfortunately, I cannot truly say I was surprised to hear it.

Do you know someone who has taken their own life? It's tragic, heartbreaking and the people I have known have been deeply deeply troubled and modern therapy or medicine was unable to help them. YEs I know of dumb E36 M3s who have OD by mistake, but a blanket statement condemning all who have taken their own life is very very short sited. Some people desperately want to live normal happy lives but have issues that really haunt them. I bet it's great to be as perfect and well-adjusted as you are. I’m stopping now and logging off for a time before I say something ban worthy.

Very sad all the way around.

So sad. His abilities were so incredibly wide ranging. From TV sitcoms to stand up, to movies. Not only comedy, but serious acting too. He did a role in an HBO special back in the 80's about AIDS. IIRC, it was called "And the Band Played On". Very good stuff.

Some of us here fight it daily. Luckily modern medicine has definitely helped as well as a great support system for many of us, but it's a struggle and I understand it more now than I ever did before. Depression is not something to hide, shy away from or be embarassed about. You're not alone and there is help available. PLEASE, if you think you might be suffering from depression, seek help. Once you're out from under that dark cloud, things get so much better.
