Recently Rolling Stone magazine published an article outlining the top 10 punk bands of ALL TIME....... and they ranked berkeleying GREEN DAY as number one. Sure Dookie was a solid record.... but really? Green Day? Hannah Montana is more punk rock than those idiots... YMMW.... Here's the list.

Really not surprised, the magazine had been garbage for decades.

Uhhh. Did you read the article? It was a reader poll, and a couple green day fansites are apparently the reason they won.

Wow, you mean you weren't already upset by what an integrity-free, Democratic-National-Committe-shilling, fashion-advertising, record-company-sucking sellout rag it is?

I read it once in a while for the lulz- but this was over the top. Poopshovel- I did read the article, RS oughtta know better than to allow any reader to vote for Green Day.

There was a time when they hired writers who were not pandering sycophants.

without clicking on anything, i'll guess that the Offsrping and Blink 182 are in there somewhere..

Strangely, no. The other 9 are old school bands.

I fail to see why you are so upset. Green Day is BY FAR the most "mainstream" of bands that the general public sees as "punk".

I'm a fan of their earlier work, and I would be lying if I said I didn't enjoy "American Idiot".

Oh well, haters gonna hate.

Edit: BTW, Rolling Stone sucks for tons of other reasons.

I will agree, I feel about green day the way most people feel about Nickleback lol.

I like Green Day. I haven't cared for their newer stuff, but I still like them. I'm not surprised that they were voted number one being a reader poll.

I have up on Rolling Stone years ago. It became a boring Dentist Office mag IMO.

This........I didn't mind their earlier stuff either, but from seeing Blink 182 live, I came to the conclusion I didn't belong in that group of people(mainly due to not smoking weed and hoarding extascy) so I just went back to enjoying listening without dealing with people. Oh, FWIW, Blink is still better. But I wouldn't call them "punk"......more the less amusing.

Any group of people who rank Green Day above the Ramones deserves to suck diesel tailpipes.

I quit with Rolling Stone many years ago when it became a 'new CD ads catalog', the last decent journalist they had was Hunter S. Thompson.

You know, aside from the Green Day thing, that's actually a pretty good list. I'd probably have at least four of those bands on my personal top 10, and I can definitely see all of 2-10 on the "best ever" list.

Thank you. I saw 4 of the bands on that list--not bad, I guess. Sadly I never got to see Black Flag or Dead Kennedys. I believe JG has, though.
