Ryan Adams

Anyone else into Ryan Adams?

I just picked up his III and IV album and have been listening to III for about a solid week. I'm not usually like that in the age of the easily attainable MP3. He's got a new one coming out soon called Ashes and Fire.

I also saw him years ago in Charlottesville and was amazed. It was easily one of the best sounding shows I'd ever been too. I'm not sure if it was the venue being meticulous about the sound quality or Ryan himself. Probably both. I was blown away. Glad to see he's back to making music.

Now, now, the Canadian Government has apologized for Bryan Adams on several occasions!

I'm a big fan.

I just found out the other day that he's married to Mandy Moore, which for some reason struck me as really funny.

I don't own any Ryan Adams stuff, but he's not bad. I certainly don't turn it off when it comes across the local college radio station. I have the same kind of relationship with Wilco, in that kinda-almost-alt-country way.

Bryan Adams, on the other hand - I hated him even when he was actually popular.

That does not excuse them for Nickelback.

I tend to like his stuff. Some of it a lot, some less so. My favorite story is at a show some smart ass shouted a request for "Summer of 69" and Ryan stormed off stage in a huff. Robbie Fulks put out a bounty of free merchandise for anyone who get get him to do it again.

I like "New York, New York" and a few of the other songs that I have heard.

PS Ryan Adams is pretty good, but, apparently, not able to handle drunken crowd humor...

I think he suffers from over-productivity. A lot of his stuff is really great, but more of it is just meh. He just has so much stuff on record, it would be miraculous if that wasn't the case.

Bryan Adams fan here, sorry everyone. It's a cultural thing. I love hearing that that Ryan upstart is getting heckled about it.

Nickelback does truly suck. They're Canada's revenge for Matchbox 20. And you can blame Celine Dion on Quebec.

Weird. I just heard of him a couple weeks ago when I did a Youtube search for Iron Maiden's "Wasted Years." Was dicking around playing that opening part on guitar, wife asked what it was, told her it was my favorite Maiden song, etc. Holy crap, that's a gut-wrenchingly really good cover.

+1 to what Alex says above...........seemed like he was putting out a record every 4 months or so ago. Also agree that he is all over the place -- I bet there is probably 5 really good albums strung across 12 or so.

I really REALLY liked Whiskeytown.........his band before his solo stuff.

when I learned that Celine Dion was from Quebec i was not surprised. weird stuff happens there.

Music doesn't make kids kill kids, but Nickelback makes me want to kill Nickleback.

Not a huge Ryan Adams fan, but I will say he has talent.

When I interned at XPN, he stopped by, and I distinctly remember him opening the studio door during his interview and yelling "Selma Hayek is berkeleying gorgeous!" We edited that out.

Yea, I don't know whether this was during the period he was doing speedballs or not, but...yea.

I've seen fake tux shirts, but a fake corset shirt? A real trend setter there people.

I'm surprised at the hatred for Nickleback. The sound of that guy's voice makes me cringe. I like Neil. He was a very early supporter of the Mullet
