I have an old IPad with the 30 pin charging connector that has a bunch of photos on it. I would like to transfer them onto a laptop or backup drive but I can't just connect to the USB and transfer like you can with later IPads. Is there a way of transferring the pictures without having to email them out or using the cloud?
I haven't dealt with pictures specifically, but I have an old iPad I use for rally stuff and the only way I have found to transfer files is to upload to something like Google Drive or Dropbox to transfer between devices. It's a pain.
Can you email them to yourself?
Also they used to sell an adaptor from that connector to an SD card, not sure they exist anymore but worth checking. I might have one, will check tonight.
EDIT: The adaptors are on Ebay under Ipad camera connection kit, this is what it looks like:

That's what I had been doing and you're right, it's a pain.
There are apps that you can transfer to another i-device via BT.
I wonder if I can find an old 30 pin USB cable...

That looks like exactly what I'm after, thanks!

Not sure if the IPad is Bluetooth compatible
I will look for an old adapter as well, I am a hoarder of old cables and such. But, does it do Air Drop? That is the fastest and easiest way to move files to another Apple device. Or can you log in and simply upload them to iCloud? Maybe an adapter from 30 pin to lightining or usb to connect a thumb drive?

It's too old to do airdrop unfortunately. I'd rather not deal with the cloud. One of those adaptors looks like the best bet.

??? I had a very old ipod touch that had BT. Like from 2010.
But many of these apps also can used wi-fi to connect two devices together.
Use Files and copy across your network to a shared drive.

IThings of that vintage store all media in hidden folders.
Plug the USB into your PC. Go to the iPad, click the view tab on the files, and select the option that allows you to see hidden folders.
From there a bunch of kind of greyed out folders should pop up, search through till you find your stuff, Ctrl+A, Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V

Thanks, I'll give that a try
