You don't create a nick name like "Spin Out"..... You Earn It!

My nick name is "Spin Out" and I drive # 13. Every time I autocross I feel like I'm giving Bad Luck the finger. Actually I picked Spin out because I felt that if I was not pushing hard enough to risk spinning, I was not pushing hard enough.

I got the # 13 because my Dad gave me a bag of 12 shirts he got for a dollar at a garage sale. He thought I could use them for working in the garage. One was brand new baseball shirt (Cardinals) with the #13 on it. I just assumed the team made up a bunch of shirts, and no one would take 13.

There's a good question, how did you pick your number?

Depending on where I race the numbers would be 55, 61 or 812. 55 and 61 were my numbers while playing football and 812 is just funny.

Used to be a camp counselor where the other counselors gave you a nickname, and I was always talking cars, so a particularly attractive british girl named me "Auto" and my real name is Alex, and I just mashed the two together and came up with this one.

I run #17 as an homage to David Pearson's early cars in NASCAR (back when real men drove them). When I was young, he was my driving hero. When he later drove for Wood Brothers, he ran #22, which is my 2nd choice, plus I was born on 12/17 at 7:21, weighing 7 lbs. 7ozs., so 127 has always been my "lucky numbers".

I'm named after my grandmother, and the most common reaction I get when people hear my name is "I had a grandmother/aunt/other old lady with that name... God, she was old."

I try to take that as an indication that one day (perhaps fairly soon) I will also be an old lady. Beats being dead, and I think old ladies can really berkeley with people, so I'm looking forward to it.

When I was about 12 and started sneaking onto the interwebs with my old IBM laptop, which my parents did not want me on as it was commonly believed to be a dense mass of porn and pedophiles with just a thin outer coating of non-porn sites inhabited by non-pedos that could be pierced by looking at it too hard, I decided I needed a username, to use with stuff. It would be cool to have the same one on everything. I was an even bigger gaming freak back then, so boy who plays games...stick initials on the end for uniqueness...all done! And I use the same username everywhere today.

Back before teh 1ntr43b, yo, in the olden days of these things called "email lists," I used to sign emails "Hess," uh, because that's what my friends call me. Then I walked across a stage one day in a funny dress and funny hat and 'dis guy also in a funny dress and hat gave me a cardboard tube with a rolled up piece of paper. After that, I started signing my email list postings "Dr.Hess." When teh 1ntr43b, yo, forums came along, I just followed on with that.

Wow, makes mine kinda boring now that I read some of these. My first name begins with a W, my middle name begans with an L and my last name is Kelley. And I am the 3rd with those intitials. My family doesn't do the jr thing but does use initials. My dad was WLKelley and his dad was WLKelley so I'm wlkelley3. And I have a son with the same initials. And I use it on most forums I'm on.

As for my car number, I use 47 because that's how old I was when I started autocrossing and as a coincedence I work on CH-47 helicopters. It's also a 2-digit number that can work with co-drivers and 74 was the year I got my drivers license. Well now that I read this, it does sound kinda eerie.

It's the name that Virginia Tech gave me as an email address back in the days that I attended said domain of higher education. Still using it on every board that I am on. Haven't found a problem yet (though I did have a problem with Gmail...)

Well, the first name's Timo but in most English speaking countries the 'o' has a habit of falling off (was probably made by Fiat). And 'boxhead', well, I'm German and it's a slightly derogatory name for Germans which a couple of friends have turned into a term of endearment. Or so I am led to believe.
