Isn't banning large soft drinks going a bit far?

This is a stealth tax. They know people will just buy 2 16oz instead of one 12oz. Or two 12oz cans. Notice the "diet" sodas are exempt. They have chemicals in them I would ingest if I could help it.

In before the lock! (Margie's on a rampage)

So we've been drinking ourselves fat all these years? The 1,000+ calorie burgers or other meal items have absolutely nothing to do with it.

I'll bet that means you can't have a do it yourself refill station like exists in most of the fast food type restaurants. WAIT! That doesn't exist in NY anyway. The place that they charge you for refills and to share a plate.

Dumb, sensationalist news.

How about this? If you are concerned that your soda is too big, DON'T berkeleyING DRINK IT ALL.

And God forbid these alleged (I say alleged because there cant possibly be a public outcry for the city to "do something" can there?) helpless rubes step foot outside NY, you know, where there isnt a size limit. They might drink themselves to death with sugary goodness because they must lack all self control in order for the government to step in and control their soda consumption for them.

One thing this legislation doesnt address: Free Refills. Discuss.

No, we haven't been drinking ourselves fat. Those 1,000 calorie burgers aren't the culprit either.

The majority of people in this country spend 8 hours a day sitting on their ass in front of a computer doing nothing, and then go home and spend the rest of their night sitting on their ass in front of a television. And then complain that the reason they're fat is because burger king forced them to get a double whopper with onion rings and a large soda.

The American people have ruined my meal times while on the road and I'm tired of it. I MISS MY DAMN BUCK DOUBLE YOU BASTARDS!

Not exactly a huge step up there (56g sugar vs 67g):

(note the servings per container)

Apparently the definition of trolling has changed in the last couple of days. If it's likely to promote any controversy then it's OUTTA HERE!

I posted the link on my FB page and some bright soul quickly said that the main benefit came from the calories burned by walking back and forth from the table to dispenser to refill the glass multiple times.

Thats the problem right there. Its not that companies are offering it, its that people are over indulging in it.

So let me get this straight. If you own a restaurant, you can't sell a soda that is larger than 16oz but you can sell a 120oz milkshake or margarita? That is just stupid.

The article says free refils would not be changed, at least not in the law. If the places had free refills they could still do that. I never buy a large drink if there are free refills. I buy a smaller drink and save money and still drink more than what I would have in the larger cup.
