...asking if the owner was familiar with a particular website that catered specifically to the Mark VII and I left my name and contact info.

Today I left work and saw a missed call on my phone from an unfamiliar number, so of course I called it. Lo and behold it was the owner of the MarkVII. He confirmed that I was the one who had left the note and told me his car was at a local shop.

I said, "I know, I pass it every day on my way to work.".

We both had a good chuckle. Then he says the transmission is out and the brakes need attention but if i want it I can have it.

Now, how should I go about apologizing in advance to the wife?

You can always get a new wife, how many clean MK VIIs are around?

The plan was to either trade in the Burban and buy a wagon for her or trade in/sell/basically give away my Lincoln then buy a wagon for me. This definitely throws a wrench in the works.

This one is in great condition (not embarrassingly haggard like mine) besides the trans and brakes, has shoulder belts in the rear and E7 heads instead of wheezy E6's.

Can you swapsie the good stuff off yours to the blowed up ones and then crush the corpse?

Love me a Mark VII. I had one and would love another. There is no car that is more gangster than a properly done up Mark VII.

One of the biggest disappointments in recent life was test driving a Mark VIII after I sold my Mark VII. The 8 has no soul, I couldnt tell it from a Taurus.

I stopped by the shop where it is sitting to scope it out a bit and snap a few pics but it got dark too quickly. It a '92 and only has 109,000 miles!!

I immediately checked the t.v. cable bushing and, like I suspected, it was dangling free from the throttle body. I called the owner and asked how the transmission was acting. Soft shifts and no overdrive. I told him about the t.v. bushing and that it may be a cheap and easy fix then asked if he still wanted to get rid of it. He said he does.

So, here's to hoping the trans isn't completely fried.

Ordinarily I'm fine with new vehicular acquisitions (especially when they're free), however, the Stincoln has been such a headache that I can't imagine another one joining the 'family'. Plus, I was looking forward to a new-ish Tribeca.

As far as the advance apology goes, there's a beautiful Kimber 1911 that I would really love to have, or that trip to Disney World that you keep putting off

Can't be real. Nobody looks forward to a Tribeca.
