Sooo, SWMBO of 22 years has stated in the last three days the following things which she has never before said:
1) I want you to take me to the gun range and teach me to shoot, it seems fun!
2) I want to learn to auto-x, it seems fun!
Now, she has always enjoyed going with me to car shows, track days, road races, drag racing, etc. (for her its like a moving car show), so maybe there is something there? Still, she has never expressed any interest in actually learning performance driving until Thursday night. The interest in my guns is something out of the blue. (wow, could have phrased that better). She never cared one way or the other about shooting sports until lunch yesterday, and specifically mentioned steel plate race-gun (which I used to do back in the day) and slow-fire bullseye. Who is this person that looks like my wife???
Skeet AutoX?
Kind of like skeet surfing:
Sounds like she read/watched something that inspired her to try to be more involved in your hobbies.

Well she did spend her childhood summers surfing in California But still, I am really curious about the psychology here... And I just remebered that she has a female co-coworker that autocrosses Corvettes...

All joking aside, I wish my wife would be somewhat interested in stuff. Embrace it!
I was kinda wondering for a sec if this thread was heading towards Amy content after that first line...I kid, I kid
That's awesome, though, I say run with it. If nothing else, this sounds like license to buy more cars and guns!
She's been replaced by a robot facsimile. Do not be fooled. People denying the existence of robots maybe robots themselves.
Thats kind of how i ended here on grm. The wife sees top gear testing a car on the track. She says she'd like to do that. I start googling ways to make that happen. I discovered autocross and while trying to learn about that i ended up here. Now ive completely overstayed my welcome and wont shut up. And i still havent gone autocrossing.
Here's a radical idea...ask her. She may not know either but it's worth a shot.

Dont forget to take some extra interest in her hobbies.
I think you should be ecstatic. It's not like she said, "Honey, where would I look on the Internet to find out about undetectable poisons?" and then, a couple of hours later, "I'm making your favourite casserole tonight."
Also, after 22 years you're probably wise enough to keep on being ecstatic in the event she puts up better scores/times than yours.
Might want to start her with paintball guns. Just seems dangerous teaching the wife to have better aim, especially if it came out of nowhere.

I once heard fellow nurse tell my wife that "If you have no interest in your husbands hobbies, some other woman will." Maybe the light-bulb came on?
