So the other day I picked up some mini bike frames.

Ace wanted the small one. Guy was asking $150 for both or $100 for the small one. I got both for $130. I grabbed a 5hp Honda from my scrapper neighbor but it looks I have to replace the crank to one that has a longer shaft. Ain't that always the story? Anyway last night I remembered that I have an old generator in the shed that I've never used. We pulled it out today and look at that beauty.

The carb is junk. Jets are rusted in. There's no saving it. Before I order a stock Walbro 5-4993 we decided to look at slide style carbs like this PV27.

The problem is the mounting holes. Where the PV27 is 48mm the original is 54mm. I'm not bright so my google skills aren't working to find one with the wider bolt pattern. Is there a trick?
EDIT - Looks like the stock replacement carbs show the bolt holes as 53mm not 54mm.
Turn the holes into slots and it would probably bolt on ....

Valid point. Told ya I wasn't very smart.
You might be onto something. I'm not sure how much the stock carb restricts things... you know, like outboards where the 75hp, 85hp, and 95hp versions differ only in carb CFM.... might that be true about a 5hp Briggs to a 6.5hp?
The PV you listed might be right, but you'll need to make sure it has both idle and secondary mixture adjustments. A lot of the lawn and garden style carbs only have one mixture (if any) because they're designed to start and stay at 3600 rpm. You'll also not likely see any gains unless you port match the intake to the TB of the carb... if it's bigger.
Does that generator flathead motor have a tapered shaft? A straight 3/4 or 1" shaft is easiest to work with.
easiest thing is a predator 212cc from HF.
The white frame is nice. Thats a "baja 200" frame. The blue one looks to be something much older.
keep your search open for minibikes. You can find one with the wheels and other bits that you'll need cheap, but the good deals move fast as you know.
i have a 200 frame that i stretched out, widened, put fat tires on powered with a little yanmar diesel. Its fun.

I ended up buying a stock replacement to just get the engine running without having to do a lot of mods. If I use it for a mini bike or something I'll probably fab up a custom intake.

Good call. According to the B&S parts breakdown it isn't tapered. While I was going to build the white one, last night I watched a bunch of Cars and Cameras on YouTube and I'm thinking of making my own frame. I have left over 2x2 tubing. If I do that I'm leaning towards a small quad with a big engine.
I'd go modded predator motor just because I like the chance of death.
