From a regional town in my home state, Western Australia...this was just posted by the local Police on their Facebook page:
"A 37 year old man was charged today in relation to him taxiing a propeller driven Beechcraft 2 seater aircraft (minus wings) through Newman to the Newman Hotel (purple pub) on Friday 31 October 2014 at about 2.10pm.
It will be alleged that he had just bought the aircraft from a private residence and was taking it home on the other side of the town, but stopped at the pub.
On examination it was found to have an exposed fuel line hanging from the side of the aircraft attached to an insecure jerry can inside the cabin to enable the engine to run. On stopping the aircraft the accused left the engine in a potentially dangerous condition with the ignition on.
The accused does not hold a pilot’s licence and the roads were busy with other vehicles and pedestrians at the time.
The accused has been charged with Endanger Life, Health or Safety of a Person and is due to appear in the Newman Magistrates Court on 18 November 2014."
And my favourite from the comment section: on a scale from one to Driving your Plane to the pub, how much did you need a cold one?
Wow, it's not in Florida.

Is it wrong to say that Western Australia is the Florida of the Southern Hemisphere?
Oh, come on...
We've all driven cars home that were in far worse condition..

Emphasis placed, but yes I have.
It discourages jaywalkers. STRONGLY discourages!
Hey, at least the plane guy parked in between the lines. Half the people in my office building can't manage that, and they're driving subcompacts.
meh... it's 2014... we're all supposed to have flying cars already... he's just living the dream that we were promised some years back.

I'm doubting this one meets the latest pedestrian safety standards.

Yeah I gathered that, there was way less sarcasm in my post than you thought.

Meh, probably the least likely thing to kill you in Oz.
So it was the fuel setup they were worried about?

If you're not flying it, is the lack of a pilot's license an issue?
I would definitely have stopped at the pub. I mean, who's going to believe that you drove a plane home?

True, but they didn't have a blender instead of a bumper.
