I totally thought this was gonna be a video of a Smart hitting a gargantuan speed bump at top speed.
In my experience, when you hit a speedbump at speed, the problem isn't the impact of the bump, its the impact of the ground when you land!

Yeah the current design is pretty weak, a few American sedans going too fast and that thing would be done for they should use a row of little leaf springs. They'll be stronger, they'll wear out gradually, and if one breaks the others will hold it up. They might want to back it up with a rubber "bump stop" too.

+1. Isn't there a guy on the board who just bought a smart? Oh...wait. Anyway, what's the incentive to slow down for the speed bump? When in doubt, I'm going for the loud pedal.
