MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) — A man described feeling “the shudders” as more than 100 venomous red-bellied black snakes were removed from a pile of mulch in his Sydney backyard.
David Stein called Reptile Relocation Sydney last week after watching around six snakes slither into the mulch. He learned from an internet search that pregnant, known as gravid, red-belly blacks pile on top of each other before they give birth.
Snake catcher Dylan Cooper arrived that afternoon. Stein helped rake away mulch as Cooper bagged 102 pregnant and newborn snakes.

Google Ai tells me that on average only 2 people a year die from snake bites in Australia......
I thought it would be higher !

Those are just self-reported...
So... If you die from a snakebite in Australia, you can't very well report it.
We live in northeast PA and the town over has an annual rattlesnake round-up. They're prevalent in our area as are several other species both poisonous and non-poisonous. I'll just tell you, I HATE snakes, ALL snakes. When I see one, I do my best to eliminate it regardless of type. They just give me the willies! Some say that there are beneficial ones, some eat mice, some do this and some do that. If they're on my property, they perish.

I live where they bulldozed farm fields into new home subdivisions and we've had smaller garter snakes in the grass.
Sometimes I find them with my Toro lawnmower - KA-Chunk.......

Venomous. I doubt there are any poisonous snakes in PA, assuming they're handled and prepared like poultry.
Living in the woods, we see black snakes and garter snakes pretty regularly. In the 23 years we've been here, we've had two black snakes in the house. In both cases I wasn't home and my wife caught them and took them outside. I never see them in the garage but I see skins every year. I don't want a pile of 100+ venomous snakes in my yard, but otherwise I like them.

Including Aussies - their driving really has to be seen to be believed. (I thought we kiwi's were bad but Sydney was a whole 'nother experience)
