I think its worth noting that yesterdays ALCS game is the first time in playoff history a shortstop was put in to pitch...He was throwing 90 mph, and managed to bring the pain to an end, at least.

I hesitate to post anything about this, because the Cubs are really getting outplayed, but I have to ask: Does anyone else feel like the Ump had a small strike zone when the Mets were batting, and a large one for the Cubs batters yesterday? I'm not sure if it was my bias or not, but it sure seemed like it to me--and I was purposefully trying to ignore the strike zone graphic that TBS is using, because I do not believe it is accurate.
One other complaint: The TBS announcers are really, really bad. The main guy just doesn't have the cadence for baseball (or any play-by-play IMHO). Ron Darling, while he has good insight, seems a little bit of a Mets fan--did he play for them? Aside from that, his delivery seems choppy to me. Very annoying. Ripken doesn't even seem to be there, I'm not sure I've heard a word out of him yet.
Well the Mets outplayed the Cubs, but the Cubs had a really good year, so I'm pleased with that.
Now it's time for Hockey.
I have to keep reminding myself, the Cubs were not supposed to be contenders yet. And that is a comforting thing.
14 innings. Looking forward to game 2. I'll be in Boston for 3-5, time to wear one of my Mets jerseys to a bar and see what happens.
be careful … I almost got in a fight with someone that took exception to my Redskin jersey while at a Falcons game …
when they were playing the Giants … WTF
If the rest of the series is that tight, its going to be epic. I'm still not sure who I'm cheering for, so maybe I'll just find a Marlins jersey and cheer for the home team.

I'm pretty sure the White Sox did it in 2005--I know it was the longest World Series game in history in terms of time.
Wow, MTN, you are correct. Game 3 started at 7:39 Saturday and lasted 5 hours, 41 minutes, over 14 innings. Game 1 tied it for innings and came in just shy on total time played. And yes, The White Sox one Game 4 on Sunday.

Soooo...you're one of those guys who wears a jersey of a team that isn't playing at the game you're at? I wouldn't try to fight you, but I'd defiantly make fun of you.
making fun of … NBD .. I kinda expect it … and actually probably WOULDN'T were the visiting teams gear to the game … this day-n-age that's just asking for a drunk fight
I'm just hoping for home field advantage to kick in for the mets.
I was confident about the division game and the series but nervous about the pennant. I guess I got that backwards.
I think the biggest problem for the Mets is that the Royals don't swing and miss … deGrom had only 3 swings and misses at his fastballs all night … the Royals make contact …
and they are the best at putting bat on ball if you're a fast ball pitcher (95mph +)
if Syndergaard can't get some swinging strikes (on his fast balls) it's going to be over pretty quickly …
the only area where the Mets are demonstrably better than the Royals is in starting pitching … and so far that hasn't worked in their favor
I think the bigger issue is that Degrom and Syndergaard are both clearly missing a step. I think it is the lather, but it might be repeat.
The Royals have a habit of grinding down pitchers. Not always (see last year's Series), but it is a habit.
I haven't watched a single inning of the World Series but I will be taking full advantage of the free am crunchwrap at Taco Bell next week.
